I had only seen the first movie when my daughter told me there were three! The first film on its own didn't make sense, but the following movies built on this and lead to what is a really well constructed story. There are few box sets in my opinion where all the films in a series are as good as each other. Star wars, lord of the rings, the omen, and godfather, are good examples for me. There are alot more that fall short and detract from the original movie, this is not one of them.
