Super disappointed, guys.
This textbook was definitely not written by the same people as the authors of Japanese For Busy People I. That volume was great, while this one was a major disappointment for the following reasons.- Disorganization: JFBP II piles on a substantial list of new vocabulary at the END of each lesson, rather than the beginning. As a result the new words are not used in the lesson at all, or even the next immediate lesson. You will find one or two of those words randomly called upon in some later lesson. Furthermore, these vocabulary lists don't have any relation to the "themes" or "scenarios" of the lessons in which they are introduced.- Inconsistency: JFBP II fails to define all the new vocabulary. For some reason, they skip one out of every handful of words despite the fact that the reader has not encountered those words in this series before. To clarify, when they are defining all the new words at the bottom of the page, they'll leave some out for no reason. On top of this, they will introduce kanji and then fail to use it later on, resorting back to the hirigana.- Low Value: JFBP II contains much fewer exercises, no doubt because they expect you to make an additional purchase of their workbook, an additional $18.- Misprint: Granted, this may not be the case for all copies, but the books my teacher and I received had a misprint in them where lines of text were completely missing. These were not "fill-in-the-blank type" exercises, although we treated them as such, because sometimes words were cut-off halfway through.

Great for Studying on Your Own
I use the Genki series in my Japanese class, which works great because I have a teacher to correct my workbook. However, I've been using the Japanese for Busy People series for extra study practice and find that I really like it because there are lots of practice exercises and answer keys in the back. This is my second book and I'm planning on buying the third book, when I'm done.

The second installment of this name- but this is for the book only
This is the 2nd level of the series of the same name. It is still a beginners type book for learning Japanese and does require you to know a bit of the language before starting this book. There is a companion workbook that is not included, but can be found upon a good search of the same name-which also includes a CD.For anyone who is learning Japanese on their own or wanting a supplement , this is a great series to invest in and well worth the money.

Challenging, worthwhile
Steps up the challenge from Busy People I, but using Ver I as foundation. Can be used outside the classroom, like Ver I, as a learning tool in its own right. I'm bypassing the Kanji section because 'Let's Learn Kanji' seems to be a more systematic approach ... and trying to combine the Kanji from the 2 different books would be confusing.

Upon finally getting around to this book, I noticed ...
Upon finally getting around to this book, I noticed the CD had been glued into the back backwards compared to the I and III levels. After opening it and trying to create mp3s for my phone, it wouldn't recognize the disk. After examining it, part of the CD has been cut off when they made the book, and there was binding glue stuck on it where it had been cut. After pulling off the glue, it appears to work; but there may still be problems I have yet to discover in the audio.

Great book!
This book is really good. Met my expectations - but then again, I already knew what to expect since I had the first volume of it. But it's really good. Just wish it had more exercises.

book 1 was better
i studied it with a teacher in a group.the material is ok, but there is not much of practice drills, and those that are in are very repetitive.in book 1 there were more practice drills and felt better.

Be very careful with the Kindle version
This is more a Kindle problem than a book's problem: In the Kindle app., you can't search japanese words either with hiragana, katakana or kanji. The search tool doesn't work for these characters. In addition, all the book links to other places (text in which you can click on to go to a relateed page) are broken. They don't point to the right page. The appendix is not very helpful. The vocabulary is not sorted by lessosn, which makes it almost useless for studying. This book doesn't come with the audio CD etc. it must be bought separately. The kanji characters with furigana are not 'normal text'. They are kind of copied-pasted small images.

Much better than Japanese for Busy People 1
If you come from Japanese for Busy People 1, you are gonna struggle a lot in the first chapters, but this book has much more (better) content. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Bought it to help with Japanese language learning, haven't ...
Bought it to help with Japanese language learning, haven't used it a lot dont have the time at the moment but now some words are displayed in kanji and most if not all of the text aside form the obvious you need in English are in Japanese so you kinda have to know how to read hiragana and katakana at least.

Would recommend it to L2 AND L3 students
Great support for level 2 and 3 japanese students!! This book covers a lot of grammar points, vocabulary and kanjis. I would recommend it to students. If you are studying on your own it might be a bit difficult though but the exercices are still quite straightforward.
