Funai SV2000 WV10D6 DVD Recorder w/ Analog Tuner

I have two of these units and am very pleased with their performance. They work with both + and - R disks as well as re writable (RW) disks. It does not work with DVD-RAM/ROM disks. I recommend using component output to your TV and S Video input if available as this will produce the best picture. It provides a surprisingly good picture at the 6 hour speed but if you want to record a movie I would recommend matching the record time as closely as possible to the movie length for the best results. There is a bit of a learning curve involved in using all the features provided by the remote but it is worth the effort. I also have a professional DVD recorder that produces marginally better results but it is very complicated to use and costs over 10 times as much. Disks are cheap, much less than tape so if you want to build a home library this is a good choice.

I realize that this recorder didn't come with the remote-for whatever reason at the time I purchased it-I thought I didn't need one and could use the control panel on the Unit-WRONG!!!! I was unable to finalize any DVD's to play in other players and had to search for one that was compatible-PAIN in ASS and EXPENSIVE too!!! Don't know why the remote wasn't included in the first place!!! Next time-I know BETTER and will NOT buy a unit unless it has the remote that should be with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good value, I would buy again. I've had this recorder for a month or two and it does the job. It has a few quarks about it when setting up timer record, best set to 'auto' for quality setting. It also seems to favor DVD+RW to DVD-RW. I'm using the RGB output to my television and picture is 480p so technically it up converts my basic cable at 480i to progressive, so the picture is much clearer. The mechanism or disk motor is a tad noisy when the disk is spinning/reading/writing/recording.

This DVD recorder/player works very well. The reason I returned it is the video quality when using the RCA Input (Yellow, Red, White) was not as good as another DVD recorder/player I had used by Toshiba. I need high quality video as a professional videographer but if you just need this device for personal or hobby use it should be fine.

The product arrived sooner than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I've only had a chance to use it once -- to make a permanent DVD copy of some shows on my DVR. The unit worked flawlessly and I am quite happy with my purchase.

This is my second purchase of this model. My first model I bought in 2006 and is still running strong. It is easy to operate and maintain and will record almost anything off air. The best DVD Recorder ever made. Too bad they don't make models like this anymore due to pressuresfrom Hollywood and the cable industry. I highly recommend it.

Can't get it to record however the player works great

Remote only partly worked and now doesn't work at all, very disapointed
