Enjoying This
This game arrived on time and in perfect condition. The game itself has been interesting and I very much enjoy the hand drawn style. There have been a couple of glitches, but nothing game breaking. It's a solid game with decent puzzles. Fairly relaxing, actually.

DONT BUY THIS IT DOESNT WORK
The physical disc it’s a scam! Do not buy this! Bought this to my wife as a birthday present, it took 3 months to get it shipped because I paid for the preorder. We tried to set the disc in our main PS5, the console didn’t read the disc. We thought it was something with our main PS5. We have another PS5 console for guests. Tried the disc in that one AND SURPRISE IT DOESNT WORK. DONT BUY THIS ITS A SCAM!

Tedious and Trying
I hate that I only come on here to review stuff when I feel pretty negatively about them, so I'll try and start with my positives about the game, having played through it today: - The animation is pretty great. It harkens back to a lot of the Disney renaissance, mostly The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, but even a little bit of maybe Mulan and Pocahontas. Some of it even feels a little Don Bluth inspired, especially some of the time travel elements reminding me Dragon's Lair II: The Time Warp. A couple death animations felt very Dragon's Lair as well. Just a really beautifully drawn game, good looking game. - Some of the voice acting is really good. Elsie Lovelock brought it hard, as well as few other roles. - My experience with the game was pretty smooth. Never had any crashes, had one segment right at the very end where I think the game might have glitched a little but it turns out that I was trying to do something I didn't need to do anyway. I see some people saying the disc didn't work at all? No idea how that happened, it loaded the instant I put it in my machine. Okay... Now the cons: - The writing is ATROCIOUSLY bad. Mild spoiler (I'm trying not to really spoil anything) but there's a lot of themes about women's suffrage running through the game. I'm not saying this a bad topic or something you can't hang a narrative around, you definitely can, but it's handled as subtly as swinging a sledgehammer at an old brick wall and really poorly. I don't know much about this guy, but if you look at the cover, it technically lists it as "Chris Darril's Bye Sweet Carole." I don't know Chris Darril's work, I don't know if he has a certain style to his storytelling. I looked at his IMDB and found a bunch of graphic artist work, cover art designs, and then a game I've briefly heard of called Remothered. Never played it, doesn't really look quite like this, though it may share the same kind of dark vibes? Either way, he's also listed as the main writer of this game, and I don't think this is a story he really has the background or the chops for. I feel like there should've been a woman somewhere in his corner to tell him, "No. No, people don't talk like this. Nobody talks like this." Even if this is based around something that a family member of his went through or something he did extensive research on, it still feels so wooden and unrealistic. It feels like this wasn't a story best told by him. - Some of the platforming feels really bad. Like the wall jumping, you have to really hold onto the sides of the walls which goes against a lot of triangle jumping I've done in other games. There were moments when I was hit by obstacles before they were really within my hitbox (Or so I thought). Some of the animations take too long to undo themselves to give quick response times. Honestly, not as bad the story, but kinda grief-worthy at some points. - With how beautiful a lot of the animation and the art is, it makes it more jarring when you have this animation, running at what is probably 24 frames per second or lower, being moved around in a space where the camera angles are going at at least 60. All the pre-rendered cutscenes look cinematic. Then you enter back into the game and the frame is sliding all around you, or worse an in-game cutscene happens with a bunch of camera zooms that make the moment feel incredibly cheap. I know this is a modern game staple, but when you have this game that looks like an animated movie, it takes you out of it. I really wish I could champion this game, because on paper it sounds amazing, but playing through it was such a patronizing slog. Great visuals, especially some of the monsters at the end, kinda reminded me of stuff like Pink Floyd's The Wall, but it's in service of just... this agonizingly saccharine and obvious pap. I wish I could recommend this, I went into it seeing a trailer and thinking "Why is nobody talking about this game, it looks great!" Then I played it and found out why, not to mention that it's hard to pinpoint what sucks about the story without sounding like some alpha male podcaster.
