Works well, plenty of plug inputs, adjustable screen brightness or the screen can be turned off
The media could not be loaded. My almost 20 year old surge protector tapped out and I needed a new for my headphone gear and amps. The Panamax 5100 was available from Amazon Sales for substantially lower than list price. It arrived well packed and appearing to be brand new with the top taped over suggesting the box had been opened but that the only noticeable difference between new and an Amazon Sales price that was over 20% lower.Setup is simple. If you have any high draw amps plug them into the slow start amp circuit outlets. I do have a subwoofer with a plate amplifier so that was a good feature for me.The brightness of the screen was a topic of conversation in multiple reviews I read. Apparently some buyers are not happy with the lowest light setting saying it’s too bright.I shot a short video showing the screen brightness settings. If the screen is too bright, you can simply turn it off.The brightness is not an issue for me because the Panamax screen is off to the side on a different rack way from my main rack. I have it set to low.The Panamax is better option than simple MOV (metal oxide varistor) controlled surge protectors that can become multiple totally inoperative after a single large surge or multiple smaller surges. This Panamax model has automatic voltage monitoring that senses a large spike and shuts the Panamax down. Once the voltage returns to normal, the Panamax also returns to normal operation. The Panamax looks good, functions well and is a welcome addition to protect my gear. Hope this helps!

Great power management for audio video protection
The unit was a breeze to hook up and is working fine The light on the display doesn't bother me.

Almost perfect for the $$
Overall, it's a good power conditioner. Does filter EMI/RFI interference, does allow high current protect (external amps), and will protect in brown outs and surges.Only issues:Even at the dimmest setting, the lights are WAAAY too bright. You have to disable the light completely to not be distracting.Power plug is traditional, not flat at a 45 to allow a more flush fit.Does not display amps, only voltage. Does not show power draw.Ultimately, I do recommend as a buy at it's current price point.

Nice Beefy Unit!
My son recommended this unit to me as we slowly update and upgrade our entertainment equipment! Now, how do you KNOW this is working? I suppose you really don't and I personally wouldn't want to find out because that means you had a power surge. It does give me peace of mind knowing this is there watching over all our stuff. To answer some other concerns that I've heard from other commenters:This unit makes ZERO noise! No humming, buzzing, or clicking! There is a click when you power down the outlet bank but in everyday use there is NO NOISE!The lighted display on the front is bright at full power BUT it can be completely shut off if you want it that way. Funnily enough if you have a smaller bedroom and leave the display on full power it almost acts as a night-light!The picture I took isn't the best ... the display is at full brightness and reads clear and correct! (You are looking at the unit with the light ... my 4K Blu-Ray is sitting on top of it.) The smudging effect that you are seeing in the display is the fault of my older camera and NOT the unit itself ... it is reading a clear 121 Volts!I have NO issues with this unit or company. My son actually has an older model under the PANAMAX name in his room and he has enough confidence in it that he recommended this one to me.I hope your purchase leaves you feeling a little more secure about your expensive electronic equipment!!!Stay safe and GOD BLESS ALL!!!

Excellent Power Conditioner - Cheap Insurance
I use 2 of these in 2 separate systems with great results. This unit has eliminated noise and transformer buzz from multiple amplifiers, where nothing else worked, indicating that it does in fact filter power (DC reduction), reduce noise, and performs surge protection duties as an added bonus.Last year, there was a power outage that damaged my router and modem (even though they were connected to a surge protector), however, all my electronics connected to these 2 conditioners were unscathed- I consider this cheap insurance, and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase other products from Panamax based on this experience.

Got one DOA
Just putting this out there so no one goes through the same problem I had. Ordered and got my MR5100, replacing an older Panamax 4300-EX model. I should have plugged it in before putting it in my media cabinet. Anyway, I hooked everything up and plugged the 5100 into the outlet and the front display read 94V and shuts down. Like a lockout protection. Unplug everything and remove it from the media cabinet. Then I started plugging it into any outlet I have upstairs, it reads 94V at every plug. My house is less than 2yrs old, call the guy that wired it and he helps me through some troubleshooting steps. Test the outlets, hot to ground, neutral to hot, go to the breaker panel (remove front cover) and test both hots etc. Everything tests at 121V. Well by time I did all this my 30 day return window was over with Amazon, so Amazon return turns into Product Support straight over to Panamax. DO NOT wait past those 30 days. Probably would have been much easier to return through Amazon. On to Panamax support - they are excellent/top notch all the way around, but I had to jump through all the companies RMA process. Took pictures of the unit display reading 94V and shutdown, outlet with multi-meter reading of 121V, box serial number/unit serial number sticker and then had show that I destroyed the unit with photo evidence of cutting the power cord at the chassis. After all that a new one is on the way under warranty.
