Will this get rid of “crazy ants”?

Follow the instructions to open it, then put it where you see the ants. After that, don't kill the ants you see let them bring the bait back to there bivouac. Once this happens then clean the area to get rid of the ants pheromone trail leave the trap in place and you shouldn't have any more problems.

How long does it last?

Does work to get rid of ants around outside pet food dishes?

No, it did not work at all. Found that spraying a solution of half Dawn and half water killed them and kept them from coming back.
