At 40x (the max) we can just spy into the neighbor's backyards. We certainly can't see the planets or even the moon. Using this is made more difficult by the flimsy stand and eyepiece that move too easily and don't stay focused on anything. This was a waste of money and so disappointing to our grandson, who thought he was getting a real telescope. He didn't even want to take it home after Christmas!
