Can this be used on an electric stovetop?

Yes it can. It works well. I use it on an electric stove top.

No where does it say on the warranty guide, but after using it several times we absolutely LOVE it!!!! It is light, easy to clean, versatile for outside grill as well as stovetop. After trying the very heavy cast iron brand, we couldn't be happier with our choice!

What is the best way to clean the grill?

I just give it a rinse and put it in my dishwasher

being double sided why does either side become damaged?

I don't know why either side would become damaged. I have not experienced that. The handle however did not last very long at all before breaking.
