It's Halloween

I was so excited to see that I could still get this book for each of my grandchildren. Jack Prelutsky's poems with the fun drawings was a tradition at our house as my children were growing up. We would read it over and over. Now, the tradition can continue. My grandchildren are three and under but we read this book until my kids had nearly outgrown trick-or-treating.

I LOVE this book. It has been a tradition in my family to read this book on Halloween. My dad read it to us every year as kids. Lovely, nostalgic illustrations and fun poems!

Both of our, now adult, kids loved this book growing up. We read it so often that we all could recite it by heart. The rhyming of it, the cadence, the images it paints are all wonderful. And now both of them want their own copies of this beloved book for their future children. And so I’ve just ordered another book to keep them both happy. I’ve also given this book as gifts to countless friends’ children over the years. Everyone loves this book! I still love this book, putting my own copy of it out every October as part of my beloved Halloween decorations. “It’s Halloween, it’s Halloween, the moon is full and bright. And we shall see what can’t be seen on any other night!”

Like many of you, I ordered this book as a youngster from a Scholastic Book Order back in the early to mid-80's. I read this book so many times that I still have snippets of the poems floating in my head 30 years later. I somehow lost this book or accidentally gave it away, and was so happy to find it on Amazon. I missed that derpy-looking goblin in the tree! These poems have just the right amount of traditional Halloween spookiness for an elementary school student and it helps build excitement for the big day (even for us mid-aged folk)! This book is going in my permanent collection and will treasure it always.

My sister gave me this book when I was in kindergarten. Sometime over the last 40 years it disappeared. So happy to have it back. Such a fun book. Read a poem or 2 or read them all. Oddly I still have most of them memorized.

I’ve read this exact book countless times when I was a kid- it was one of my favorites. I can clearly remember bringing it out in the fall, especially when it rained and it was one of my most favorite rituals when I was a child. Over the years I had lost it, and was so happy that I could buy the exact copy I had- with the same cover. The book is in excellent condition for being used, and I believe it will stand up to the use my grandchild will now give it as this tradition is now passed on.

Very classic book with short tales and rhymes. I love it and the art work is so cute. The little fat goblin is my favorite little guy.

This is an excellent children's book with incredible illustrations! It's my favorite from my youth and I buy one with every single baby shower gift.

A classic. I have liked this book for preschoolers for a long time.
