TDK Life On Record Bluetooth Wireless Charging Speaker (Black)

Bluetooth: 4 Stars, The bluetooth was very easy to pair with my Nexus 4, and always connects quickly. (about 2 seconds on average) The only downside is when attempting to get my friend's Iphone 4S to connect over bluetooth it wouldn't work. We simply waited and the Iphone never found the device. Not sure why that was the case.Auxiliary: 5 stars, Plugged in my personal auxiliary cable to my laptop, and there were no issues.Qi Charging: 3 stars, The charging speed itself is very good, comparable to a standard charger. I typically leave my phone on it over night and it's always ready to go the next day. This also works when the speaker is running on it's own internal battery. I just wish it had longer range as indicated by the other reviewer, I also have to take my Ringke Fusion case off my Nexus 4 to charge it.Battery Life: 5 stars, Battery life can always be improved for any device, for this one though I'm quite pleased, I've never had it die on me, although most the time it is plugged into the wall at home.Sound: 5 stars, The sound is fantastic even on the default setting, the bass kicks, and everything is clear. It can also be very quiet or quite loud, filling my entire home with sound.Wall Adapter: 2 stars, the wall adapter works fine and is solidly built, the only problem is the size. It's quite large at about 2 inches by 2 inches by 5 inches.Final: 5 stars, There is really nothing else as solidly built with all the features of the TDK Life on Record Speaker. I got it on sale around $140, and use it everyday. Even with the drawbacks of a large wall charger and imperfect Qi charging I find it to be an amazing home for my Nexus 4 at night. It's great at parties and it's a little bit splash proof as well. I recommend this to anyone with a Nexus 4 or Android smartphone with Qi charging capabilities. For those with Iphones use caution if you expect it to work with bluetooth, because it might have issues.

Sound was not as nice as the other reviews suggest, but perhaps I would have been satisfied if I hadn't heard it was great. It's OK. Surprised to find that can stream quality stereo Bluetooth to it from a phone or other mobile device a LONG way, 50 feet or more. Wireless charging is very nice, though extremely fussy about placement. Don't know if that is an issue with the product, my phone, or Qi itself. Minor quibbles: have it by my bedside and the orange volume light, blue BT connection light, and green blinking charging light are way too much. Not really sure I really need any of them to use the product. Battery powered, which may be cool, have not use it yet. Overall, one of the rare pieces of electronic kit that doesn't completely suck, so all in all worth considering if you need a Qi charger and/or a BT speaker.Update after a couple of years: still use the Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom, but don't use it outside, the battery died after just a few months. Don't use the wireless charging anymore, just to poor. Budget later-generation chargers instead.

So as a speaker, this is as good as it gets for this size. It's quality made, it's adaptable to the country you're in (The plug can be swapped, and it comes with EU US and UK fittings) it's really simple to use, sturdy and looks really nice.However I really got this because it could have been an awesome charging solution for my phone. There's a slight problem however, it requires a very specific kind of Qi charger, one that requires the phone be magnetically aligned with a piece of metal/magnets in the case or device. So it will only work with certain devices, certain charging covers etc. This will not work with any phone that has a third party qi wireless charging adapter, as those do not come with the alignment strips. It will work with any "Official" Qi charging accessories probably though.I don't understand why this was done, there are chargers, even official Qi chargers that work just fine without this alignment, I would also much prefer this if I could just throw a phone onto the top middle but you really have to place the phone at a specific angle to work and that's annoying.The top is also dipped, I guess to make sure it holds onto you're phone, because obviously this thing is going to be violently thrashed about because it works so well with the device moving about? Yeah, no... The bowl feature only prevents this thing from being used with some larger devices, that aren't rounded in the back or small enough to touch the center. Please note that this still fits a Galaxy Note 3, with the official qi charger but if you add a protective bumper to that it no longer fits inside the bowl to be close enough to the charging pad. Also there are larger devices with wireless charging that might not work. Some Sony phones and most tablets might not work. (Will maybe update this if I can verify a Nexus 7 works with this)So all in all, a few things that seem so stupid and pointless really make this product difficult to fully recommend... My advice is check online to verify someone with you're exact phone or device /charging solution can verify that it works with this device before purchasing, just to be safe. If it does, this this is a 4 star product- mainly because for this price I would have also expected automatic NFC pairing and APT-X sipport :P

This is seriously one of the best speakers I've ever heard anywhere near this size. Good, deep bass and extremely clear audio, even at high volumes. I have a work shop I use this in and everyone that passes by my shop is amazed that I have this little guy in here, and not a full blown audio system. Absolutely fills the whole shop. If you want great room filling sound, then buy this speaker. The wireless charging capability is incredibly useful as well. The built in battery lasts an OK amount, but after about a year of use and being consistently plugged into the charged, the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. Overall amazing sound quality though.
