These work like you would want . I recommend getting a getting the cable for programing . If not and you change the frequency ( and that only works for Channel 1 ) you have no way of going back with out the cable and recording your settings before you do ANYTHING to the radios . But it has good distance . Over 1 mile in town . Clear . And the sound is ok not great but plenty good . The features are easy to turn on and off . It takes a bit of reading the book to get the hang of it but easy once you do . Their app is hard to work so I suggest CHIRP along with theirs CHIRP is very easy to use

Nice loud clear reception. Does not hold a charge long. Sat for 3 days without using it and battery died.

This is a GREAT buy. I have 2 sets.

Pros: I didn't hear random chatter from racist rednecks like with typical walkie talkie channels.Cons: The communication intermittently works, even when you're like 20 feet away. You can't hear Jack in town when just 1 block away. The buildings definitely blocks the signal. The entire units are black, including the labels so you don't know what's what. There's no LCD display to quickly show you any details. Since it's not rechargeable AA batteries, you have to carry around the dumb charger, and can't switch batteries on the fly.I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
