Sincerely, Suncast Corporation **Q: can insulation be purchased for this house?** A: I just purchased this and insulated it with a layer of cardboard and that reflective bubble wrap insulation with some double sided foam mounting tape. We’re also going to put in some pine shavings and a self heating crate mat. The cardboard and reflective insulation made the house feel a bit sturdier and definitely warmer. Hope this helps. **Q: Does this keep the rain out? I am looking for something the stray cats can use as a shelter in the rainy season.** A: I am pretty sure that cats will use the shelter if you can somehow introduce them to it. Obviously, dog smells will likely keep the cats away. The shelter itself is definitely waterproof if set up correctly....down here in the south-east, we are subject to horrendous rain storms when rain is measured in inches per hour...the inside of our shelter is dry come what may.Strangely enough, the dog for whom our shelter was purchased has yet to use it...at least to the best of our knowledge. He will sit under the beach tent or on the covered porch but we have yet to see him actually enter the dog shelter with his entire body...just far enough to reach for his play ball if it has landed there.
