Read the small print.
My error! I didnโt realise this was a used item and was not impressed by the condition. I have not managed to get it to work yet, so am unable to comment on the sound. I will probably sell it on e-bay as untested.

well protected.
Was not the standard of the item I wanted and I wish that I had gone for a higher quality item.

clear as a bell
I picked up one of these at the start of this year in a second-hand store for a fraction of the asking price here; I also picked a Technics and a Kenwood and this Sony here although obviously not a top-of-the-range item has some very nice features like HX-Pro which is not found on all machines; even higher-grade; most of the HX-Pro tapes you will find are from the late 80's and 90's and well worth hunting down [all were made in Germany if you buy them in Europe]. So good on that. The doors only open manually which is quite low-tech but hey we can all press a button to open a door :] But the main thing is the sound is VERY CLEAR the other two I mention here have more of a bass sound stronger but slightly too bass; the Sony here is always clear and quite treble in sound; so I would say a nice piece of kit especially if you have HX-Pro gems you want to spin. PS I personally digitize my cassettes to 24/48 through Audacity so I do not play these decks too often . The resulting rips are much higher in tone than CDs can ever be. Worth doing ...

I've had this since 2002 and it's still going solid and strong and cassettes will never die :)
