Review: Works GREAT for leg cramps from strenuous work, sports, etc... - My husband has had issues with leg cramps for YEARS & YEARS due to him having a very strenuous, physical job that he does in all temperatures... from one extreme to the other... from the hottest of days in the upper 90s (above 100 degrees with the heat index) to below zero. His solution used to be to eat a couple of bananas & try to stretch out his legs as well as drink as much water as he could. About 10 years ago I was introduced to homeopathy (Hyland's arnica) & after HUGE success with healing many different issues via homeopathy, I tried more & more products over the years. One of the first combo homeopathic products I tried ("combo" as in it is named after what it is very helpful for) was this HYland's "leg cramps" formula & it has been a game changer for my hubby as well as our kids when they have been playing strenuous sports and have had leg cramps. They take 2-3 tablets & the cramps are gone in minutes. It is definitely NOT placebo as my husband is a tough nut to crack & he gives me grief if he takes one of my "concoctions" & it doesn't work "right away" (which is because he WAITS until he is ready to drop to ask me for anything, which then usually makes things take longer to work). Whenever he has had leg cramps THIS is what he reaches for now...not a banana, but 2-3 tablets of the leg cramp formula & a big glass of water. No more having to lie down in bed writthing in pain while trying to stretch the muscles because his calves & thighs are locked up. After he takes these he can function fully & he gets a full night of rest. I have a kitchen cabinet that is full of homeopathics & supplements... 1 1/4 shelves are full of just homeopathics. The other two shelves have trays for everybody with the supplements (multivitamins, D3, K@ MK7, turmeric for one of us with a recovering injury, etc.) they take so we can all grab our tray & take what we need. She took symphtum & in 3 weeks she was able to ride on a motorcycle again with NO pain. YES, I said my grandma rides on a MOTORCYCLE, which is a whole other issue, but the point is that she was able to get back to living & enjoying her life from after an injury that would have taken months to heal at her age. She said the pain was actually improving within days, but she wanted to give her ribs more time to heal before getting back onto the motorcycle again. After that incident she developed an infection from a bee sting (on her foot) & could barely walk. The doctor wanted her to take antibiotics, but she didn't want to so I told her to take belladonna for the inflammation, apis mell for the sting, & also alternate between applying a cotton ball with a few dabs of apple cider vinegar & a garlic poultice. In 4 days the infection was gone & she could walk without pain. I could go on for hours about many cases of healing with homeopathics.... I WILL & do REGULARLY purchase these! But in 2006, it was taken off the market, it's actually a malaria drug. If you've seen old movies in the tropics, you've probably noticed people drinking gin & tonic (quinine) taken with gin, cuts the bitterness of the quinine. Schweppes tonic water still has Quinine added 67mg per litre for the traditional bitterness, but at 1/10th the dose for malaria. Quinine pills for leg cramps are almost impossible to find. BUT Hyland has small doses of it in their Leg Cramps! That's why they work SO WELL! I don't "speak" Homeopathic, but I found a "translation" here are the Active Ingredients: Cinchona Officinalis 3X, HPUS (Quinine), Viscum Album 3X, HPUS; Gnaphalium Polycephalum 3X, HPUS; Rhus Toxicodendron 6X, HPUS; Aconitum Napellus 6X, HPUS; Ledum Palustre 6X, HPUS; Magnesia Phosphorica 6X, HPUS. (Magnesium) Along with the Quinine, there is also Magnesium in Hyland Leg Cramps., Magnesium is another excellent ingredient for relaxing leg cramps. The directions say to start with 2-3 tablets under your tongue. They melt away in seconds. If you feel no relief in 15 minutes, you can repeat the dose every 15 minutes up to 6 doses. (I save time and pour a few in the cap and pop them into my mouth, that way.) It's best not to have eaten just before taking them, you need a fresh clean mouth, rinse with water, not mouthwash. Also avoid touching them, if possible, that's why I use the cap and pop them in my mouth without touching them. **Q: do they work in the middle of a marathon?**
A: good question, i have never run a marathon so i cannot really say. i do play beach volleyball for about 6  to 7 hours on sunday through the months of good weather, running and diving on the court does wear on a person and cramps usually occur at the end of the day. i usually take the cramp tablets approx. a half hour prior to ending my day and heading for the parking lot which also entails climging a trail up a hill about 600 ft. up to the parking area. these tablets work great, without the use of the tablet, i would start to have severe leg cramps about 200 ft after starting the climb, since using the tablet i have no cramping all the way to the car. it may not be the same as running a marathon, but running in sand for six hours is a great workout. good luck, well worth the try.

**Q: Is this a quick responds under the tongue?**
A: They dissolve quickly under the tongue and generally the cramps are relieved within a minute or two.

**Q: Do these work for cramps/muscle spasms in other parts of body such as hands, chest, stomach, arms etc or only for feet and legs???**

A: From their web site:Hyland's Leg Cramps contains the homeopathic medicine Cinchona Officinalis HPUS, which is made from the bark of the Cinchona tree, commonly called "Quinine Bark". This bark is the source ingredient for quinine as well as the source of the ingredient in our homeopathic medicine.
