Q: Is the outside of the bag waterproof?

Yes, our insulated cooler backpacks are waterproof and leak proof both inside and outside.

Q: Does this collapse down at all? I'm looking for something to pack in my luggage without taking too much space when I'm flying to a beach destination.

Unfortunately, not however you could pack things inside of it and around it to maximize your luggage limits. It is a very sturdy piece.

Q: Is the front pocket big enough slide a laptop in to? My laptop is 14 x 9.25 inches.

I’ll tell you this… when it tipped over it did not leak. Never tried to tip it upside down. I’m really impressed with this backpack considering the low price. I bought one for a friend for Christmas.
