In May 2024 my bloodwork had finally entered full-blown diabetes. Thanks to Mounjaro, massive weight loss, and a better diet, my testing is back in the normal range. Blood glucose testing was not ordered by my doctor, at my June checkup he asked if I ever do it. The wearable sensors are supposedly better, but expensive. So I checked product reviews from independent testing labs and decided to try the Ascensia CONTOUR NEXT GEN Blood Glucose Monitoring System. The testing kit had two separate sets of instructions for the lancet and the meter, which was intimidating at first. In reality, this testing kit is super easy to use. The meter activates when you insert a single-use test strip. A disposable lancet is inserted into a spring-loaded pen, and an almost unnoticeable finger prick produces a drop of blood. The test strip soaks up the drop of blood and the monitor processes almost instantly. Just like that. Super easy. The whole set fits into a small carrying case that comes with the starter kit, and would easily fit in a shaving kit, backpack, purse, or suitcase. I have no way to assess the accuracy, but independent testing agencies as well as users of multiple products report it being within a low percentage of deviation. Good enough for my use. Replacement test strips are not expensive, which is appreciated.

I ordered this glucose monitor as I started TPN, which is nutrition delivered via an IV line. Doctor’s orders were test every six hours. I ordered this kit as it is an incredible value and it had incredible reviews. I see why the reviews were so high- it’s a solid monitor for the money and comes with everything you need to monitor your levels. The kit comes with two packs of test strips, lancets, lancing device, and the monitor itself. It also comes with a super convenient carrying case that holds everything for on the go! I will admit, the clarity of instructions could be improved. There is a lot of info to take in. There are several symbols etc that you need to memorize. Aside from that, this monitor is incredibly accurate. I haven’t had a single inaccurate reading. Test strips are affordable and offer a 60-second re-sampling window in the event you don’t get enough blood onto the test strip on the first go. The lancing device comes with the kit and it includes a small supply of lancets. The lancing device has 5 depth settings and is incredibly easy to use. The device works with most lancets available on Amazon. The device is incredibly easy to use and nearly painless. I set the depth at 4 personally. I find I’m able to get the proper amount of blood without having to restick another finger. Given I recently purchased this, I cannot speak to battery life. However, the device is incredibly easy to read and the device offers Bluetooth sync with the Contour app for iPhone. It keeps all your readings in sync for ease of access and to easily share with your care team. It also syncs with Apple Health. This kit is an incredible value for the money. The test strips are reliable and affordable. I’d strongly recommend this kit to those needing to monitor their levels with confidence and accuracy. My advice is to add more test strips and a box of lancets to your order as the kit includes a small supply of lancets. It’s always good to have plenty on hand in the event you need to frequently check levels. Incredible value for the money!

I like this product better than the similar Freestyle Lite. The strips are at a very reasonable cost and the meter itself has more flexibility and better functionality in general. I am quite pleased with this purchase.

I had to get a new glucose meter because test strips were hard to find. The NEW meter has easy to find test strips and lancets. The soft case wasn’t very helpful but easy to remedy. Tossed the old meter but kept the case. New meter seems to be more accurate and has a better app.
