Works Well
I was able to put my car into EPB maintenance mode very easily. Scanner does what its suppose to do without any issues. So far so good

Mostly very impressed! Saved me mucho $$ and a 60 mile drive to a rip-off dealer.
I started with a scanner of about half the cost. It read my ABS codes fine and identified both rear wheel speed sensors as the cause of my ABS alarm light. The Hyundai dealer diagnosed only one bad. They charged $238 and did not supply the diagnosis report, so I didn't know which wheel and they would not return calls. They offered to replace it for $792. I bought two sensors on Amazon for under $20/pair and a 15 year old replaced them. (The Hyundai dealer wanted $198 for just the one part.) But I still had poor braking. I had replaced the brake master cylinder and got some air in the lines, but normal brake bleeding did not give me good braking due to air trapped in the ABS & ESC mechanisms. The service manual said that a scanner with ABS auto-bleed functions was required. This scanner instructed all mechanism valves open and then ran the ABS pump. Now i have good braking! I still need to manually bleed the lines of what the scanner got out, but this has saved me a bundle. However, it was incapable of resetting my Tacoma's maintenance light, so i need to do that myself. It also correctly identified bad squib wiring on the driver door air bag of my Tacoma, which a mid range Foxwell had also identified. I would disable the air bags if i could- who wants to be surrounded by explosives? I know multiple instances of them detonating without an accident. I tried pulling the fuse on the Hyundai ABS and got good braking back, but lost my speedometer, and the steering was squirrely. You can generally stop faster without ABS interference, but steering does not work on ice with locked front brakes, so you have to pump them yourself like in the old days before AI 'protected' you. This scanner was noticeably easier to use and had the auto-bleed function that the half priced Autel did not. Recommended!

Budget scanner but gets the job done
This is a budget scanner, but it gets the job done. There is a LOT of possible functions but I have not/can not test them all. I can say that as far as pulling codes goes, its about as easy and straight forward as you can get. Tested on a 2013 Jetta and a 2011 XTerra with similar results.

Great and Powerful Tool
You really can't go wrong with Ancel products. This would be my fifth one at least, and possibly more but I've lost count. I have an entry-level OBD reader, a midrange one with Bluetooth, and their tablet with the brand-specific software. All are capable products that deliver a user friendly experience and professional caliber diagnostics in a solid package that never feels cheap even when it didn't cost a lot.Pros of this unit include the ability to assign specific shortcuts to the function keys. Out of the box all three soft shortcuts are "OBDII" but I've elected to make F2 my Ford key and F3 my Toyota key, while keeping F1 as stated. This saves me some time when diagnosing my own fleet of vehicles, but also makes sense in general since these are two very popular brands. Other options for the function keys are offered and you'll probably have no trouble finding choices that work for you.The unit includes a hard case with two latches. It's a great way to store and carry the unit, the cables, and the user manual, but it's a little odd that the cutout for the tool itself is not exactly form-fitted. There's nothing to keep the unit from bouncing around inside the case while in transit, and no padding in there either. Then again the reader itself has a ruggedized body not unlike those old Nextel phones that used to be all over the jobsites back in the day.I realize the carry case is almost always an afterthought, but this is a pro grade tool and it deserves better. That aside, it's a nice accessory and I'll probably just glue some styrofoam in there to cushion things. Size of the case is about on par with those consumer-grade socket sets you always see around Father's Day on sale for 40 bucks.Tool has software on board for a global range of vehicles, without the need to download anything extra besides the updates. Tool connected easily to wifi and updated the databases quickly. Options are provided to delete manufacturer-specific software one by one if not needed. DTC lookup is rudimentary but serviceable. I have found that you cannot look up codes the device won't detect, for instance a TPMS code I had in one of my test vehicles didn't show up in the diagnostic scan, and I was unable to input the number to look it up in the reference. This isn't a "con" so much as a reminder that this is not meant to be a broad primary OBD reader.Tool emphasizes specialized functions including ABS and SRS system diagnostics and oil light reset. Options are also provided for things like SAS (steering angle calibration), electronic parking brake release, two-way testing such as actuation of vehicle modules, and of course reading and clearing DTCs. Live data can be viewed, graphed and exported. Service records are saved locally. All the usual OBD operations are available including I/M readiness and vehicle monitor status reporting. Automatic VIN retrieval was fast and accurate. I'll have to go back in and poke around some more to see if it gets into the minutiae of dealer-level programming of things such as the number of courtesy turn-signal flashes on my Toyota test vehicle. This does access certain calibration options such as passenger seat weight sensors for the SRS, and I'm sure I saw something in one of the menus relating to power windows, but I didn't look too closely. Make no mistake, this is a very powerful tool.99 percent sure this doesn't have Bluetooth. If I don't come back and delete this sentence, there is no Bluetooth on the device. Likewise this tool doesn't have a corresponding app to extend the functionality. Honestly it's pretty hard to imagine an app could bring anything to the table that's not already loaded on the tool from the factory. (Update: yes, there is no Bluetooth.)If you're just looking for a basic OBD reader this may be overkill, but it will certainly do the job. If you're trying to get intimate with the intricacies of vehicle safety systems this unit will be hard to beat.NOTE: One thing I did notice, and by no means is this a dealbreaker, but in both the printed manual and the onscreen content, there are several obvious misspellings and typos. In my opinion a professional-grade tool needs to have someone thoroughly examine all text content to locate and correct these type of very preventable errors. I'll try to take some notes next time I fire up the unit, but you'll definitely spot a lot of these mistakes quite easily yourself.UPDATE: The tool seems to revert back to metric every time I use it. It isn't a question of being able to save settings or data, since the tool remembers, for instance, my shortcut keys, and previous diagnostic history. But for some unknown reason, no matter how many times I enable the "imperial" unit setting, the system always reverts to metric the next time I use it.UPDATE 2/27/25:Through Vine testing of this device I have made the discovery that Foxwell and Ancel are sister brands. I believe Foxwell is the "big sister" since the customer support email in the Ancel help menu goes to Foxwell. I never thought to look until after I'd seen the two devices and realized they were the same (see photos). This is great news in my opinion. We've all heard of Foxwell and their excellent reputation, and I've been a satisfied Ancel customer for years. Ancel deserves to be recognized as a serious, pro grade tool brand. No matter which of these names appears on your device it's a lock that you're using a reliable product that can stand up to the harsh conditions of a shop environment. And they give you lifetime free updates!

Beyond a basic scanner
This scanner has everything and the kitchen sink for options. I've had plenty of cheaper units in the past and while they did the job of telling me the basic error code or rudimentary info they left me having to do web searches and dig for deeper info to diagnose the situation. That's not the case with this scanner. You'll have an absolute wealth of information right at your fingertips. You can pull current, stored, and past codes and you get more than just a cryptic code number. In many cases the scanner will fully identify your vehicle and tell you exactly what is causing the code.If you need to do other functions such as reset ABS or airbag sensors this has you covered too. Want to look at real time or freeze frame data? This will do it. Body codes? In most cases this worked for those on my vehicles too.I was honestly impressed with just how much functionality this has and even more encouraged to see firmware/software updates are available and that it is being kept updated with the latest vehicles.
