I had to return the first one because as others have mentioned, the actual scribe itself was missing from the package. The second one received was whole but the scribe was actually loose in the package, which is an issue with Amazon's packaging.. so if you order one be sure to check your Amazon package if your item is not complete. Now for the unit itself.. Mine works perfectly fine, no issues with scribing a line in the center of knives I am forging. I use Dykem on my pieces, which is much easier than trying to gouge out metal, so with my typical use type, it works perfect with ZERO issues. It is also constructed of good quality metal, thick, heavy, and the pieces that hold the scribe is also well made and straight. What more can you ask for really?

Showed up missing pieces. No Carbide tip nor the piece to hold it. Just a rectangular piece of metal showed up with a set screw.

Have not had a chance to use it thoroughly yet, but still give it 4 stars. Opened it and did a small test piece. Worked great, seems well made, should hold up well

Understand that you get what you pay for with this product. It’s not the best, but it works. It’s simple to use, but easy to mess up your scribe. The pen is very pointy and makes a good line. It’s small, so fits anywhere. I would say that for the money, it's good value.

Light weight easy to use. I would buy again if I ever needed another one.

Terrible…ordered first time and received a plastic container with nothing in it, reordered and received just the rectangular body and not the carbide tip or piece the tip goes in. Returning and not ordering again.

It’s a usable center scribe, and works great for marking the center of your blade thickness. The arm that holds the scribe tip only extends to about 5/8” so it’s not really deep enough to mark a bevel or fuller line on larger blades, which would make this a more versatile tool. There are other center scribes on Amazon that extend more, and cost less.

I tried to find one for years.. Only improvement would be a measurement scale so you can adjust without having to use a ruler. Great kit

Arrived but carbide tip is missing…totally useless tool at this point.ridiculous ending to my order.

Missing parts. Read the reviews before buying. My order had the rod that holds the scribe missing, making the tool useless. Also the title states that the scribe is carbide, it is not. It is just hardened steel. See photo, apple mouse for size reference.
