POLAR LIGHTS 1/1000 DEFIANT - ONE OF THE BEST-ENGINEERED STAR TREK MODEL KITS!
Polar Lights' 1/1000 Defiant (Star Trek Deep Space Nine) is a very nice little kit that is easy to build and exceptionally well engineered. Parts snap together without glue for the younger modeler or more time can be taken by the more skilled modeler. The model has clear parts and lighting could be added by the advanced modeler. The kit's parts fit well and little or no putty work will be required since there are no sinkholes or ejector pin marks visible. Decals include panel detailing so the modeler who wishes to do little or no painting can achieve a fairly realistic-looking model without a whole lot of effort. The model comes with Polar Lights' dome-stand so will make a nice desk-display. This is likely the best of the 1/1000 Star Trek kits done by Polar Lights; it was just really well-done. Highly recommended!

Easy to assemble
I just got back into model building, and I decided to get this one because I missed building model star ships. This one is a very quick build, great for a first kit, but detailed enough to look good for display. No paint required but if you are good at painting you can make it a very good looking model.I am not so great at painting but I am working on it, so to that end I decided to do mine up with WWII style D-Day stripes and tiger teeth. It was all freehand so not the best paint job. Again, none required for this model, just me being silly.5 stars, Model is as advertised, at no point was there any frustration about parts not fitting, or breaking, or other stupid stuff, a good quality beginner model kit.Only thing I would note is the clear plastic parts for engines are clear and not color tinted, thin layer of paint on the interior side will make it look decent, if you are inclined you could rig it up with LED lights pretty easy too.

Great Model Kit - Buy it, you won't regret it.
It's been many years since I tried to build a model but this kit was super easy. Everything fit as expected and the decals are amazing. This model is made for lighting. I had so much fun, I'm thinking of making another one. I added some battle damage and used a color wash to make it look a little darker and grungy(I attached one photo, pre-wash, to show the pristine model).

Good kit, but fit was a bit tight in places
The media could not be loaded. Not too difficult to light up but a photo etched detail set made the nacelles a bit cramped. The fit was a bit tight in places so some puttying was necessary. Decals look good.

Decent if you need a Defiant model
It is moulded in greyish blue. You'll want a grey paint for it. Decals across non flat parts are weird. Instructions could be clearer. Not easy to add lighting. Needed glue for smaller parts to stay.

Tough little ship
I really enjoyed this model. It’s much different than the typical Star Trek hero ships.

Wonderful Replica
This was purchased for a friend's birthday and was assembled infront of me. The recreation of the Defiant in an easy to assemble kit was a great gift but there were some of the smaller pieces that were challenging to work with. Since he had never put a model kit together ever it could be a lack of experience, same for myself, that presented the issue. We also didn't have any tools. Overall I was very satisfied with the overall product.
