GREAT INCENSE AND DO-ABLE PRICE FOR EVERYDAY.
This is my favorite everyday scent, all-purpose. It's much higher quality than most Indian incense other than sandalwood, and I've tried a hundred brands since university. 8 weeks of rain in the winter means there's mildew between the walls or somewhere, and the very very fine quality of this incense [really is used in Japan for religious rites and is very popular there for its purity] makes a real difference used once a day. I do have a couple of allergies, so I have seriously researched incense trying to find a brand that works yet doesn't smell like chemistry. Nippon Kodo's Morning Star brand never has the chemical or petrochem after-smell of so many cheaper brands from the US and India. Sandalwood is nice and clean, but we particularly like how the Jasmine and Wisteria don't have that weird after smell like dishwashing liquid or lighterfluid that non-natural petrochemical brands usually do because most commercial floral incense in India is now manufactured with chemical agents instead of mostly real floral and herbal elements.

Memories of Sailor Moon and my years in middle school
So when I was little (1996-2003), I used to go to this Japanese bookstore to go get my Sailor moon mangas. They had an incense section next to their milky pens section (who remembers the hype with those?) I picked out this scent because of the color of the box and because I always associated the name jasmine with the color as well (princess jasmine outfit color from Aladdin) Anyways, it’s been my favorite scent since the day I bought it and it always gives me such a good feeling in my soul every time I light it. It’s very soft, almost sweet smell but not strong to where you get an obnoxious headache from it. It’s very calming and gives a good vibe to the room you light it in. It’s great for yoga, meditation, reading and even when having people over. It’s not overbearing and gives a good impression to your clean home. I recommend to everyone looking for a gentle, clean and peaceful scent. -Esperanza @getzaazaafit

Excellent brand of incense and wonderful scent.
I am a huge fan of Nippon Kodo Morning Star incense. Without a doubt my all time favorite is their's is Green Tea. This Jasmine incense is one that I also enjoy and has made it into my regular rotation. It smokes very little, burns for about half an hour, and has a wonderful floral Jasmine scent. It isn't my favorite of this line, but I enjoy it enough to purchase a box of 200. I haven't been able to source it locally since moving to a smaller town, so I came to Amazon. I purchased through Tokyo Japanese Outlet and I could not be more pleased.

Shoyeido Japanese Incense: A Simple Pleasure of Life Amidst a Hectic World for a Quite Modest Cost
Japanese Incense: A Simple Pleasure of Life Amidst a Hectic World for a Quite Modest Cost After several decades, I recently decided to start burning incense again simply for the olfactory pleasure of it. I purchased several different fragrances of incense from Shoyeido, including Moss Garden (probably my favourite thus far), Cedarwood, Amber, Sandalwood (in the yellow box), and Jasmine. I like them all. Compared to Indian incense, the Shoyeido joss sticks are more subtle. I think they burn more cleanly, and the fragrances are not interfered by a core stick. They subtly scent the room in which I burn them, but they do not scent much more than the one small room. This is a plus if you live with someone who may not enjoy incense as much as you do. I understand Shoyeido also make a Frankincense incense and a Myrrh incense. I want to add both to my collection in the near future. These are very nice incenses for the price point, and I encourage everyone who has been thinking of trying one or more of these scents to jump in with both feet. If you have burnt and enjoyed Indian incense to any extent, I think you will love these joss sticks. I burn mine in a small koro filed with Shoyeido white ash. I also plan to try sand as a medium as well. These joss sticks do not become so hot that they would damage a porcelain koro. I like that fact. Also, both ash and sand allow the joss stick to burn up completely. Your sticks will continue to burn even after they have burnt down past the surface of the ash or the sand. I like this very much, too, as I feel there is no waste. I have been enjoying these joss sticks so much that I now find myself burning several sticks a day. They are a nice, quiet, pleasure conducive to relaxation, peace, and meditation as well as olfactory pleasure. Next, I plan to try burning incense resins on a charcoal for what some people call the ultimate way to enjoy pure incense.

Light, enjoyable jasmine
Short-term sticks and pleasant version of jasmine. This brand makes such enjoyable scents. Never overpowering.

Not your usual incense sticks, by far the best.
By far the best incense made. This is not the dirty, smoky sticks you usually find. The scent is always clean , and the burn is always even. The smoke is light and there is little if any residue left. Simply the best made. Worth every penny.

Morning Star Incense A Word About Quality
Nippon Kodo is all about quality. From the moment you open the box quality is evident. The inside of the box is moisture absorbent to keep the incense fresh. (place a drop of water on the inside surface and it will swell) Inside the incense sticks are neatly packed. Each stick is precisely manufactured so that they all pack uniformly. As other reviewers have stated, there is no "stick" holding the incense on. There is only pure incense. Who wants to smell any thing other than the pure smell of incense? And speaking of smell, I don't believe I have ever experienced incense as fragrant. You get pure incense, not burning wood. In a little box at the end of the package is a ceramic pad with a hole to hold the incense upright and should be placed in a ceramic dish or tray. As other reviewers pointed out, the sticks are easy to break. If you are a little careful and use the ceramic pad there is no problem. But to top it all off Nippon Kodo places a packing slip that proudly presents all of the fragrants, 18 in all, and the addresses and phone numbers of it's offices in Tokyo and Torrance Ca. WAY COOL
