Mountfield Self Drive / Clutch Cable Part # 381030082/0 For SP454 2011 Onwards

Exact replacement for original cable. Quick delivery and good price. 👍Nothing to do with cable but it is an awkward job. You need to drain fuel then the oil (unless you know how to position piston dead top) and then put mower on its side. Use a long nose pliers to crush retaining clips on old cable and pull back through cable mount (located below belt wheel) Note there is a small slot for inner cable to be inserted into cable mount, pass the sprin clip over and forward, drop in the inner cable. once you do this you can pull the inner cable which should pull outer cable into lock position. Next hook the spring clip onto the clutch lever Once cable is hooked up to clutch lever then secure it at the other end to the handle and mount. If you secure it to handle and mount first you won't be able to pull it through and locate it cable mount at drive end.Oil and fuel back in and run machine. Adjust cable tension as required.I didn't need to take off blade and belt cover like some suggest but it is fiddly. Second time will be easy.

Excellent fit

Cable fits but needs a bit of adaptation for my particular mower (needed a Jubilee clip to secure the handle-end of the outer housing to the side of the handle of the mower). Slightly too long aswell, though that was easily got around by using a zip tie to secure the cable out of the way so as not to flap about. Works OK though.

Quality cable came quickly. Has now been fitted and works well.

Arrived quickly. I had never fitted a clutch cable before on this mower but it only took about half an hour with a a few basic tools.

I couldn't get the original plastic conduit off the clutch box, so discarded the new plastic conduit, cut the steel cable about 1" below the dog-leg, then pushed the cable up the old conduit and used a 13amp electrical connector to rejoin the dog-leg to the cable, this also makes it easier to adjust to right length. From mission impossible to a breeze of. job.

A clutch cable not quite the correct item for an older machine..but with a bit of tweaking worked well...should get another few seasons out of the mower
