Is it possible to use this without a filtration system?

I purchased this along with a filtration system and use them together. I think they can be used without each other.

Is there a power button? I plugged power into a working outlet, but the power did not turn on. Thinking if there is an alien/off button?

Don’t remember there is a button, just works. Water in?

Can this be used for Carbonated water?

Where would the source of the carbonated water be? It would have to be from a pressurized Tap. This unit is VERY loud when cooling. I would think twice a lot it if you plan on putting it in a family area, kitchen etc

Does it work on its side not standing up?

I would not suggest that you place this unit on its side. There are fan openings on the side that ventilate the unit for the cooling to work. Expand the photo of the unit and you should be able to see this aspect. It is a solid performer, however.
