Review: Quality paint - This product seems very good quality and in application, it goes on and feels like a high-quality, fairly thick water-based emulsion rather than an oil-based, hard wearing floor paint. Unlike an emulsion you don't need to stir it before use, but you will need some White Spirit at hand to clean your paint brushes afterwards. It seems to cover very well and also seems to go quite far. The 'Frigate' (or battleship grey) colour version of the paint I purchased is slightly lighter than I imagined it to be but it looks clean and fresh on the garage floor. I applied the paint by brush and it goes on easily. “Thorough preparation'” of a floor is of course important if you want the paint to stick to it; and as I heard someone quote on YouTube the other day - "fail to prepare, prepare to fail". Essentially though the 'floor preparation' basically means cleaning it to remove as much dust and dirt or grease as possible with a vacuum cleaner perhaps and maybe mopping it with some soapy warm water, then rinsing it and allowing to dry. As this paint is oil-based it dries at a slower rate than any water-based emulsion would - this is not a bad thing if you've got a large area to cover as it won’t dry out as you're actually painting with it. The Instructions on the tin, advise allowing it to dry overnight before applying a 2nd Coat, and that it will 'fully cure' or fully harden in 7 days. It’s not a job you can try to rush in my opinion. Would recommend this stuff. Review: Nice finish if you require a 'standard' non fussy finish. - Overall: happy with my purchase of 'Slate' leyland trade heavy duty floor paint. I would have preferred a darker grey colour. This is very much a Light Blue-grey colour rather than a Black-grey colour I was expecting. But that's my opinion. I only had a 2inch paint brush to hand so that's what I used. The area I covered was approximately 5msq with one coat so there is still around half a tin left to do another coat if needed. The paint quality seems good: I've painted on a rough concrete surface with very little prep, except a good sweep and mop. Value for money: seems reasonable for the cost. Ease of use: quite easy to paint with a brush though I suspect a roller would have been quicker. Adhesion: time will tell, as i have painted over previous painted patches I will update my feedback after a period of use. I have used this paint on a balcony which is relatively open to the elements. Drying time (in a warmish UK November) have been around 12 hours for the first coat (can walk on). I will almost certainly do a second coat which will require a significantly longer time to 'cure'. Before and after photos have been added, the 'after' picture is while it is still wet. It will require full removal prior to application. **Q: Is this suitable for bare wood floors?** A: Yes follow the instruction on the tin, thin first coat by 55 with white spirirts **Q: Can this paint be used out doors? I should like to paint a concrete path?** A: Definitely NOT. I painted the red brick paviers outside my back door with the green colour. Gave them several coats to take into account the human and dog traffic. The paint blistered due to temperature/weather changes and looked a terrible mess. Took months to clean it off.
