GSI OutdoorsTrowel Small Hole

This is just the ticket. Its sturdy enough without been really heavy. The listing is a little confused though, the listing is for a green trowel, the picture shows a black trowel and I received a clear trowel. Doesn't really matter though, when 'you gotta go you gotta go' and you aren't going to complain about the colour of the shovel. The trowels comes with a little card booklet attached with leave no trace information too which is a nice touch, not quite a newspaper but reading material is always a bonus in these situations.

Worked well on several trips. Bit too expensive for a piece of recycled plastic though. But for some reason quality throwels r expensive. Not sure if it won't snap some day..

Not the sturdiest of trowels but then I knew it wouldn't be for the size and weight - but that's the trade off for its light-weight. I wanted it for a week's wild hiking, so I wanted to keep extras to an absolute minimum. Was great where I was because the ground was soft and it hardly weights anything but I don't think it'd work too well in more rocky places. Perhaps I'll get a more strudy spade if I'm going to rocky places. Perfect for what it is though

Can break if not careful but the serrated edges cut into turf and through roots much better than the metal ones and it doesn't fold up around your fingers when digging.

Very useful trowel; good for vertical or horizontal scraping, and (when clean!) the ruler is very useful for recording. Only issue I have is that it has sawed through two pouches! Needs to be hung.

Light weight and seems very robust. I like the serrated edges!

serrated edge, ruler for measuring depth, strong plastic - and an excellent price. ideal for hiking and not leaving a trace. don't go camping without :)
