Discover the ease of deep cleaning with the Kenmore 500 Series Bagless Canister Vacuum. Review: Love it - , head has stopped working already ! Not worth the buy. Review: Kenmore Warranty informed me this model is discontinued - I know why!! - Do not purchase this model. I purchased this last December (2024), by February 16, 2025 I had to reach out to Kenmore warranty services because the brush roll was not staying connected to power (green light went off and you could tell by the sound it was not spinning). They said it was a newer model so they did not have parts to ship out, and instead would have to ship me a new one. However, it took from February 16 until April 2 for it to arrive, and to submit the warranty request I had to cut the power cord and send them a picture of it, so they would send the new vacuum. So I couldn't even use it without the end just to suck up dirt and pet hair- this was not ideal. The new one had been working fine until this week (January 27, 2026). It is doing the same thing, brush roll loses power connection and stops working. I contacted the warranty number again. Even though I just received this vacuum on April 2, 2025 (so not even a full year ago) they go off the date of original purchase (the first BROKEN vacuum). The gentleman on the phone informed me I could purchase a replacement wand for $38, but that they had been back ordered and he wasn't sure how long it would take to ship to me. He also informed me that this model is discontinued - I know why!! It is clearly faulty. Do not waste your money. I am so disappointed and feel scammed by Kenmore.

I like this vacuum
This Kenmore DC5070 500 Series vacuum is a keeper. I hope it lasts as some comments say it didn't and they had trouble with it. Vacuuming is not high on my housekeeping to-dos but I have a dog that sheds quite a bit. I wanted a lightweight, bagless canister (I tried others) and this fit the bill. It is more quiet than my older Kenmore bag canister, one of the first things I noticed, other than the sturdiness of the vacuum itself. I like the great suction and the fact that the wand components click securely together. Decent cord length, longer than some others. The motorized nozzle has a light so I can see under the bed (someplace I could not vacuum with my upright) as well as everywhere else I go with it and being motorized and swivels make the job easier. It's convenient that I don't have to change the nozzle between floors or carpets. However, this vacuum does not like high pile carpet but the small brush, that conveniently fits on the back, does a decent job because of the great suction, just takes a little longer because it's smaller. My home is mostly floors with a few throw rugs so this is not a huge problem for me. Storage is easy as it hooks together to move as one piece. Lastly, the downside of bagless vacuums is the hair and dirt that needs dumping. This too is easy enough and it has a large capacity dust cup to handle my needs. No I do not like the dirt that may need to be wiped out afterwards, but that's to be expected with a bagless vacuum of any brand. I have an extra set of filter pads so I can immediately switch them out and not have to wait for them to dry after rinsing.

Flaw in Brush Head Bristles
The vacuum works great - however, the brush head design has a significant flaw. The orange bristles on the brush head wear down and subsequently it doesn't agitate the carpet/floor. I've reached out to support but they don't have a replacement available.

Too many quirks
While the vacuum has good suction, the “powered” head doesn’t pull forward at all, which makes it much harder work to vacuum any carpet that’s medium or long pile. The canister has a good filter, but when emptying it’s difficult to get a good angle so no dust or debris spills onto the floor. The deal breaker for me was that the head has an auto off function in case of a big tangle, so the roller will turn off if there’s a problem. I vacuumed my stairs that have low pile carpet treads that are stuck on with strong adhesive. Even using the hardwood setting, the roller turned off repeatedly, and I had to turn the whole head off and back on again to get some roller rotation at least a dozen times. Also, the plug is a little loose in standard outlets, and came out enough to turn off the machine several times. Pros- long cord, good suction, good filter Cons- loose plug in outlets, roller head is finicky, emptying the canister is messy, overall machine is heavy and using the carpet setting requires more force than it should.
