Qualitative Data Analysis with NVivo 2nd Edition

This book was worth waiting for! I purchased Dr. Bazeley's two other books on qualitative data analysis and by far this version brings you into the new version of NVivo 10. What I like most about this book is its "down to earth" reading level and "hands-on" approach that facilitates the understanding and use of a sometimes intimidating software. It uses step by step instructions for the use of the software while providing the support structure for the preparation to discover or match theories for qualitative data collection and analysis. This book makes the writing of chapters 4 & 5 of your dissertation more manageable and less stressful. A must have for graduate and post-graduate students who have chosen the qualitative research method for their thesis or dissertation.R.T., RN, DM/OL(c)

It's easy to understand for a non-english speaker. Also it has a lot of tips and recomendations. I started using Nvivo a couple of months ago, but now I regret not having sooner this book.What I didn't was the packing, the book was kinda smashed and the corners a little worn, I didn't get the feeling of a 'new' book.

I needed an option after abandoning Atlas.This is a great reference for beginner doing qualitative analysis. I still had to supplement with the companies website and other sources to get started on my project though. It is organized well and is usable for all types of qualitative analysis.

I am using NVivo 10 for my dissertation now. Before buying this book I participated in NVivo training workshops (online), saw QSR youtube vidoes, and read help guides...but it is the traditional book that is the most useful and helpful. Reading the book gave me a lot of clarity and somethings that I can't seem to find in other avenues I find it in this book. This is a must have for anyone planning on mastering NVivo! The book has step-by-step examples with screenshots, which is immensely helpful!

This book is informative to organize, store, and analyze data. What I didn't realize is that many of the applications that are written do not apply to the Nvivo for MAC version. If you have a Nvivo for Mac and still learning Nvivo, I would suggest purchasing another book. Unfortunately, I bought the Kindle version so I can't sell my copy.

This book provides exactly the kind of user-friendly step-by-step instructions I needed. It would have been nice to have the few essentials for my simple study (coding interview transcripts) in one place, though. Eventually I realized only portions of the introductory chapters plus Chapters 4 (Coding) and 5 (Nodes) were what I needed to get started. I may use Chapter 10 (visualizing data) in the reporting stage. The book is easy to understand and well written.

Product in great shape

The book is very useful to deepening the qualitative data analysis (some principles and strategies) and the use of the program NVivo (through concrete, practical examples).

The media could not be loaded. I liked everything about the book but, most importantly, the clarity in which the author describes the use of NVivo functions and links them to insights into Qualitative Data analysis as such (so, it's not "detached" from this broader perspective by, for example, focusing exclusively on NVivo functions and not linking it to the guidelines for conducting qualitative research in general). Although you do not need your own data set, it definitely helps if you do have one and then you can complete the chapters, one by one, while applying what you've learned to your own data. This is what I did when I was learning to use it, and it resulted in me becoming competent in this software within 2 weeks.

The best informative guide to using NVivo. I recommend this to all researchers.

NVivoの包括的なテキストというのは，本体についているHelp以外にはなく，Helpも全体像を掴むのにはあまり見やすくない中で，それを一望にできるテキストという意味ではありがたい。ただ，QDAという概念自体があまりまだなじみがないためなのか，その理解に類書同様紙数の多くを使っているため，そこを読んでいくだけで，ちょっと疲れてしまって肝心の使い方の部分にたどりつくのに時間がかかるのが難点。テキストの構成は，日本人の読者には，佐藤郁哉氏の類書で概念の方を掴んだ後はいきなり使い方の説明に入るような形の方が良かったかもしれない。

Excellent book on qualitative research software!

Over the years I have taken courses on Nvivo in two world class universities and a further course from a private provider. None of them taught me half as much or half as well as this book. It is excellent. Vitally, it integrates the technical process of using the software with the analytic process of doing qualitative research. It is easy to understand and segments learning into sections that make sense practically from the point of view of undertaking a piece of research. Having used Nvivo for years, after reading this book I realised how much more the software has to offer-I was just unaware! Speaking with students (including PhD students) and academics I found that most people, like me, were not getting the most out of the software.The latest edition covers NVivo 10. I couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone undertaking qualitative research and considering using Nvivo.
