I installed 2 of these thermometers in my homebuilt BBQ smoker, one up high & one at the grill rack level, so far they have held up good, they havent sen rain yet so we'll see if they fog up,but as far as accuracy, they are kinda SLOW to change temp, and mine seem 20-30degrees off target at time ( I double checked multiple spots inside with a laser thermometer & also with a ThermoKing TP-17 dual probe thermometer, which BTW I am SUPER happy with - the ThermoPro is super accurate & can be stuck into the food item, has temp alarms, is super fast temp read etc....even tells ya what temp to keep the bbq at for different kinds of meat. anyways, these BBQ smoker thermometers are FINE as a backup or general thermometer, but if you are crazy about temperature accuracy, you might want to check out other options
