My 9-year-old has been very interested in yo-yos lately, but the only ones he owned were free, cheap ones handed out at local events, and they didn't work very well, so he was struggling to learn. I ordered this yo-yo for him to try, and it's perfect for him. The weight and sturdiness are much better than the other ones he'd been practicing with, and that (combined with overall better quality) makes it much easier for him to learn, and to learn faster. There's a small pamphlet included that shows how to adjust the string to the right length as well as a couple of basic tricks. This is a great starter yo-yo, and I'd recommend it!

I am not a professional-level yo-yo artist, but I can hold my own. I usually go for a different and more well-known brand, but seeing this MAGICYOYO, I decided to branch out and try something new. The yo-yo is marketed for kids and beginners, and this is where this yo-yo squarely sits. It is a good starter toy but one would move on to a more serious model with some practice. A high-end yo-yo is not that much more, so I would just leapfrog over to that and start with a higher-end model. However, I could easily recommend this for a younger kid. It is responsive and inexpensive, but definitely an entry-level yo-yo.

I have tried several of these D1 yoyos and this one is just as good as the others. They're super fun to collect given all of the colors and designs that Magic Yoyo makes them in. This one plays fine and is built well like the others I've tried. It's designed to be a looping yoyo so it doesn't sleep for very long, but that is fine by me.

My son recently got into yo-yos, but he’s never used one before. This is the perfect toy for him to learn on! He loves how it works and how he can make it sleep at the bottom. It even comes with a case and extra strings! He’s showed me countless videos on YouTube on how to use a yo-yo.

Responsive yo-yos are a great starting toy and this one is easy to use. It pops back up pretty easily once you get the hang of it. Good balance and appreciate that it has quality bearings and extra strings.

My son was watching his bigger brother with an aluminum yoyo and wanted something to work with, and this is a great high quality starter. It's plastic so it's not liable to hurt nearly as badly in training like a metal one, but it still sleeps well and is built well. If they stick with it, they'll be able to do some basic tricks, though they'll likely want to graduate to a "Butterly" one as they grow to do more tricks...
