One 16oz bag of Zatarain's Complete Crawfish, Shrimp & Crab will season 12 pounds of Crawfish, you would need four bags for a sack of Crawfish (40 pounds). ~ Erica

Q1: can i proportionally down-scale the recipe for 1/4lb of shrimp? q2: what's the minimum amount of water?

1) Probably not. The spices are inside a bag without any way to get them out, and if you do remove some of them, you need to reseal the bag somehow. 2) Use enough water so it keeps the shrimp floating until done. What might work is to use a bag in the right amount of water without shrimp, bring it to a boil for a few minutes, then allow it to cool. Use part of that to boil your shrimp, freeze the rest for later.
