To be honest I bought it for no other reason but to post a review on my Stationery Nerd website. Imagine my surprise when this arrived in the mail and I was blown away by the high quality of the leather and craftsmanship. The leather is pristine, heavy-weight and thick, but not stiff, and buttery smooth. The beautiful smell of leather always makes me happy.The only downside is the pen loop. In the picture you'll notice that it was first glued in place, then stitched to the inside back cover (on the secretarial pocket) and along the edge of the TN. When you put a pen in the loop the pen fits great (even my thicker fountain pens fit just fine)... BUT, the pen is "inside" the TN and the inserts lay on top of the pen. So it's awkward and clunky. I ended up removing the pen loop completely (carefully use a seam ripper to remove the stitches on the pocket side, then cut the leather off along the edge and leave the part that's still stitched to the edge). I have one of those brass/leather pen loop clips on order so I'll just place it where the ugly marks are (I probably could have been gentler with the removal of the pen loop).Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to use this for... because I NEED to hold it and use it. It's worthy of more than just a mere review on the site. LOL! Even with the pen loop issue, this travelers notebook is 100% a must-buy item. I have to say, it's gorgeous. The leather smells wonderful. The construction seems solid. And it just looks beautiful. It's hard to believe the price given the quality of the notebook. Don't hesitate. Especially if you're jumping into the traveler's notebook craze for the first time, this is a great "entry level" cover. But if you're a seasoned TNer... don't let that stop you from giving this one a try. Really beautiful.
