In 2016, Kevin & Mark were sitting on the boat at their family cottage in Cape Cod, MA. They were discussing the possibility of starting a company together and were brainstorming ideas for the best path to take. Growing up, their families spent most summers on the pond. Boating, swimming and fishing was part of their upbringing. It's something they're both passionate about and it made sense to build a company around their passions. A few months later, BEST Marine & Outdoors was born.

Review: High Quality Anchor - and decent makesift mallet... - TL;DR – Shipped fast and was as described – an anchor of high quality construction with all required attachments to be effectively used straight away. Bought this anchor to go with my kayaking gear (for fishing / relaxing on lakes) as it was reviewed well and had all the required extras pre-bundled with it. Good: - Shipped fast and item was as described. - Complete bundle (anchor, rope, float and carabineer). - High quality construction (galvanised iron anchor and marine grade rope) which should stand the test of time and seawater assuming good care (remember to wash gear with fresh water after use!). - Nice little carry bag for it all which is a nice bonus. - Makes a great impromptu mallet if you forget yours when camping… Bad: - Perhaps a little heavy compared to some other designs but this is a very VERY minor note – could be an issue if you were carrying a lot of gear. Mixed: - Length of rope may need to be longer for your specific usage.

**Q: Will the anchor rust?**
A: Our anchors are made of galvanized iron or carbon steel, which prevents rusting. However, to lessen the chances of corrosion, it's good to rinse salt from the anchor after each use and allow the anchor to fully dry before long periods of storage.

**Q: Why does the anchor include a shackle?**
A: Some people prefer to add chain to the anchor. The shackle is the only way to do so. The shackle can be added to either end of the anchor, giving you more flexibility in how to use it.

**Q: What’s the purpose of the zip ties?**
A: Most anchors come with the rope tied to the top. If your anchor gets trapped, there’s no way to free it. By tying the rope to the bottom and using a zip tie to attach the rope to the top, you can detach a trapped anchor and remove it upside down
