Local mall has a DIG WORLD where kids can operate construction equipment in real life. My son has been obsessed with construction diggers since going to it over the summer. The sand is just kinetic sand and works fine, so if you have any kinetic sand from other toys it will work.We also have brought these to the beech and lake, and have had no issues with real dirt or sand messing up the wheels or joints in these toys.

Our youngest loves to play with car/trucks and lately, "Magic Sand". So this toy set was a perfect item for her. This sand is a little harder than the name brand play sand like it but that's a good thing as it comes with little brick molds to use with it. This allows your kid/s to make little sand walls or roads that actually keep the shape longer while being played with (the "Magic Sand is much softer and doesn't hold shape as easy). The toy excavator and dump truck are 100% plastic but made well and are fun for her to play with in the sand. There's even little road cones and barrels (you can make sand barrels with them too) and a few signs to really make it look like a construction area.Overall, our kiddo loves to play with this as is and has even more fun making her horses make tracks in it too. It keeps her busy for hours of fun and makes her very happy so we're happy.

I'm very impressed with this set from CAT, especially given the reasonable price. The two vehicles have a nice durable feeling despite not being die cast metal, and are a great size for little hands. The accessories allow for a lot of options for creative minds to build your own small construction site. But what I'm most impressed with is the compound they include. While it's reminiscent of kinetic sand, it is far easier to shape and mould. It also holds its shape even when the piece is larger. The included brick mould is very nice, and as you can see from my pictures the compound takes the shape of the mould perfectly. My only wish is that you got more of it, and perhaps a few additional moulds related to construction. But, with enough creativity and the use of other toys you can get by. Overall very impressed!

This is a great play set and a big hit with my 5-year-old. He loves kinetic sand and playing with construction vehicles in it, so this was right up his alley. The “dirt” is a little thicker so it holds together a little better. The vehicles are plastic, but nice quality especially for the price. The set is smaller, so it's not a ton of sand, but a good amount to stay in a little tray we have and limit how much ends up on the floor. This would make a great birthday or Christmas present or be a perfect little gift for holiday donations.

We threw a "digger" party for my son's second birthday, and I got this to put on top of his cake. Chocolate frosting, some milk duds, and this set made for a super easy and adorable cake. Plus, he was thrilled with the diggers, took them everywhere, and hasn't broken them yet! He has yet to try the kinetic sand, but it feels great to me, and I'm sure he will love playing with his new diggers in the clean "dirt." It is a great set for those little vehicle lovers in your life!
