Nothing wrong with a man taking pleasure in his work. I won't deny my own personal desire to turn each sin against the sinner." Gluttony, greed, sloth, envy, wrath, pride, lust — everyone has a sin. For detectives William Somerset and David Mills they live among these sins, every day, a crumbling city of crime all around them. But nothing can prepare the partners for the killings they are about to experience, all of which begins when they find a morbidly obese man who has died from the forced ingestion of spaghetti. What starts as one bizarre crime turns into a case of serial murders as a predator named John Doe begins to execute victims by paying homage to the "deadly sin" they represent. Directed by David Fincher and starring Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey, Seven is hailed by critics as, "An intensely claustrophobic, gut-wrenching thriller.

A stunning 4K with a lot of tweaking and additions by Fincher.
I think it is in a sense definitive. Some people will say the additions, which most will not notice, were not all needed, and some of the refinements to grain might be a bit more than some hoped for, but this is not some James Cameron AI-fest with waxy faces and poorly added AI details. It's a clear step up from what we had before.I'll be honest, I barely noticed any of the additions. The only thing I did notice was some wobbly grain on the scenes they redid in the car ride up to the finale. I know Fincher hated those shots, and they've definitely used some tech there, but it also looks a lot nicer than before too.Grain was very fine throughout, and probably cleaned up, but overall I didn't notice much else. I thought the clouds at the end were done extremely well, and most of the other stuff just flies by. It looks gorgeous, or it looks as good as it can for the subject matter. You could tweak more or tweak a little less. In the end I think Fincher did this release very well overall, and I have very few complaints. He fixed a lot of stuff, but he didn't go into James Cameron territory to ruin his film. Think Blade Runner: The Final Cut rather than True Lies.Colors are amazing. Detail is definitely a decent step up from any previous bluray. Blacks have been lightened a touch, which I am thankful for as the previous bluray was absurdly dark. HDR is as it should be. There are some absolutely stunning scenes here that will stick in your mind.Seven remains a masterpiece in filmmaking and storytelling. They just don't make them like this anymore. An easy recommendation on 4K.

One great film. Outstanding picture quality
Outstanding film. Beautiful 16x9 letterbox. The only con I have is the packaging. The 4k disc is so tight in the sleeve you have to be careful pulling it out.

Se7en 4K is glitchy
Been waiting so long it's for Se7en to get a 4K release. So you can imagine how disappointing it is to be watching it and it glitches. And it's not our player. We cleaned it several times and played other 4Ks that were fine. So we ordered another. That one glitched too. So we ordered another. And that one glitched too. So I guess we'll be sticking with the Blu-ray.

Best movie in the worst case
The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because of the packaging. Don’t get me wrong, it LOOKS cool, it folds out and has a bunch of pics from the movie. The box itself is nice. But the way the discs are stored is awful. Getting them in and out is impossible, I honestly thought I was going to rip the box (it’s made of cardboard not plastic). They slide in and out, but it’s like the cavity they’re in isn’t quite wide enough to slide them out easy (they’ll never fall out on their own, that’s for sure). I couldn’t get the disc out without shoving my fingers in and pinching it on both sides (basically rule number one with any CD, DVD, Blu-ray is touch the bottom as little as possible… and preferably never). So this bugs me. Sliding it back in wasn’t easy either, I had to force it. It’s so bad I think I’m going to buy an empty blue ray case and keep the disc in that. I’d rather the disc have a long life than sit in its pretty box.Otherwise: this one of the greatest movies ever. Best detective/suspense neo noir ever for sure. If the case wasn’t a pain, this would be 5 stars all the way. I saw this in imax when it was recently re-released for a single weekend, and this 4k UHD version stands up to that, great picture and sound.

Great condition upon arrival
Arrived in good condition, it's a great film if you haven't seen it.
