I purchased 6 of these for use on the pergola I am building over my patio and am very pleased. They arrived just a few days after I ordered them, were well packaged and contained all the pieces needed for a variety of mounting options. The light fixtures are extremely sturdy and I expect them to last for quite some time. The lights are finished in a silver/pewter color that appears to be powder-coat, a very durable paint that is baked on. I chose these lights because of their industrial/steampunk look, but not their color. So I did make a few minor modifications: I spray painted the fixtures with black automotive wrinkle finish paint, wrapped the ceramic bulb insulator with a bit of copper tape then finished them up with an old fashion Edison style light bulbs. I think they look like fixtures that would cost three times the price. They have since gone through several drenching Texas thunderstorms and all continue to work faultlessly with no fogging or condensation build up. (just seal the junction box caps with silicon as the manufacturer's instructions state) I would definitely recommend them.

I bought 2 of these (along with 4 of the top mount style) for my basement homebrew room. They look great & are well made. I'm using them above my clean-up sink so that fact they are splash proof/water resistant is great. They have seals between all the metal/glass connections so there is no worry about water getting in (they are made for outdoor use). They have a nice industrial look which is exactly what I was going for. Easily installed in 10 minutes (not including running the conduit/wiring into the panel/etc). They don't show the junction box in the picture for some reason but it's there (& you need to use it & run your wire in conduit). These are made for expose conduit wiring only (not flush mount). Looks great. As easy to install as any outdoor fixture. The cage can be a little bit of a pain in the butt and sometimes you aren't 100% sure if it's on properly. Size is just right though. Material quality is pretty good, not the best but I like it. Thanks.

After reading one of the previous reviews I was concerned about the mounting problems he had encountered, but I purchased anyway I just had to try it myself. Yes the previous reviewer is correct the mounting holes do not line up correctly with a normal electrical wall box. The fixture was designed to be mounted with the included surface mount box - bummer. After being a bit disappointed, but not willing to be defeated or use the ugly surface mount box I began to work on a way to mount them. Our house has a stucco exterior so I proceeded to take the old fixtures off and hold the new ones up and marked where each of the four holes would have to line up on the stucco. I used a masonry bit and very carefully drilled four holes into just the stucco and carefully put in a wall anchor. These new holes and anchors worked perfect to mount the fixtures. Remember to take off the rubber gasket from the surface mount box and use it between the fixture and the stucco to make a weather tight seal, a little silicone didn't hurt either. I used various wattages (9w and 13w) of the new Phillips mini twist compact fluorescent bulbs (Home Depot - 4 pack for $7.99) in the fixtures and couldn't be more pleased with the light output and how they look. I installed a total of 9 fixtures around the exterior of the house. Building codes can vary across the country I suggest you check yours to ensure your installation complies.

Before I get into my review, here is a FYI on 'Silver' vs. 'Brushed Steel': At the time I ordered the 'Silver' one, the image was the same (duplicate) of the 'Brushed Silver' one - but when I got it, it was painted more of a battleship grey than silver. I returned the 'Silver' ones and got the 'Brushed Steel' and they look as pictured/what you'd expect. 1. Components: The fixture and guard is all metal, with a thick glass screw-in insert. The metal seems to be some kind of nonferrous pot metal, but solidly constructed. There is some clear indication that it's cast metal (rough edges), but this is rather minor in my opinion. Only the pickiest of buyers will notice/care. 2. Installation: I was just replacing existing fixtures, so I already had the location on my house wired. Installing them was very easy (this was also the first time I have ever installed a porch light). Note that it does *not* come with screws to affix the mounting plate to the side of your home, nor does it come with wire nuts (to join the wires from the light fixture to the wiring from your home). These are cheap to buy at any hardware store, but it's good to know this before you get ready to install. 3. Looks/functionality: I've only had these installed on my house for a couple days, but they work well and look fantastic. They cast the light well and the metal cage that protects the glass does not seem to affect the light or cast shadows in any significant way that I can detect. 4. Made in China. Just a FYI to those that want to know where it's made.

I put this light up for a friend. They had an existing security light spot light so was limited on what I could put there an no internal electrical box. This light worked as it replaced the external electrical box that mounted on the wall. The quality is good and installing was easy enough. I put in a 100w equivalent edison bulb so give it a nice appearance. A regular bulb would have looked blah. Overall a good product and the price is great.

I didn't review these when I bought them a few years ago mainly because I forgot however I thought I would do so now after having 2 on my front porch for the last 3+ years. Not only do they look amazing, they have lasted really well. And unfortunately I had a porch fire a few months after I installed the lights the cedar siding was scorched, my metal front door was scorched and warped but the light that was directly above the fire was totally fine I had to wipe a little soot off of it but other than that even the light bulb inside was totally fine.... I am totally impressed, I may have had to replace the shingles and the door but thankfully I didn't have to replace my lights... I'd give them 10 stars if I could. About to buy another for my back patio.
