There are optics that will turn off when no motion is detected for a period of time but a holster has nothing to do with this and typically if in a holster there will be movement anyway. The battery contacts and the ability to hold a setting for 16 hrs before returning to auto are the upgrades from type 1. Again tge RMR Type 2 is NOT motion activated!! **Q: Are they still selling fakes? or has this been resolved?** A: There’s a good video on YouTube on how to spot a fake. I have fake that I purposely bought on eBay for one of my range guns and there’s a huge difference between the fake and the real. There are many things to look for but a few things to check are the adjustment screws. They should be black and should be flathead screws, not an allen head. The finish also should not scratch off very easily. **Q: Why does the description say type 2 yet I received a type 1?** A: I received a type 2.
