I was skeptical due to price point...
I was skeptical due to price point... but I'm now VERY impressed! I've had ten surgeries in the last 3½ years, and have used cold therapy for each one. My body responds extremely well with ONLY ice therapy, and Aleeve (Naproxen) for pain. When I was covered by Workman's Compensation, they always covered the rent on the machine. Now I'm on Medicare, and I'm told they do not cover ice therapy. Knowing how much success I have with cold therapy, I decided to search Amazon to attempt to find a suitable unit. I looked at several units, and the prices varied widely. I'm of the thought that a more expensive unit suggests it's likely a better unit. I was WRONG!!! This unit was pretty affordable at roughly $80. That's about $100 less expensive than the majority of the units I was browsing. This unit arrived fairly quickly, and I was eager to determine if it would work for my upcoming surgery. One thing that concerned me on arrival, was the size of the box on my porch! I'm used to the models that use an Igloo 6-pack cooler to hold the ice & water. The shipping box was about half to ⅔ of the size I was expecting. My first thought was "Crap, this is Temu junk!" I opened the box, and realized the bucket that holds the ice & water was folded several times, and made from waterproof PVC/Vinyl, and actually appeared well made. The bucket actually holds a generous amount! The silicone wrap that will easily work for a knee or shoulder has generous Velcro straps, and looks to be of HIGH QUALITY, as does the pump assembly and controller. The lightweight cover on the dual cooling hoses works well, but is the only hint this isn't a higher priced rental duty unit. I read in the reviews a couple of people claimed the hoses leaked at the connectors. Since they are O-ring sealed, I simply spit on the O-rings for some lubrication before connecting. Both ends of the hoses I did this old mechanic trick to, and everything slid together, and locked into place LEAK-FREE! I'm now on my recliner with my knee elevated, and using this cold therapy machine. I have one of those $100 tabletop ice-makers sitting next to it, so I can recycle the water from the cold therapy bucket, by pouring it right back into the ice-maker. Since the ice-water isn't contaminated, this is an easy solution for me. I'm really enjoying how QUIET this cold therapy unit is, and how easy the controller works! I'm still a bit rummy from anesthesia, but I'm so friggin' impressed with this unit, I wanted to write about how GREAT this is working for me. Time will tell how long this unit lasts, but even if it only lasts for this one surgery, I'd still buy another! 😎 PS, I had another brand unit a few years ago that was mine. I let a friend's mother borrow it, and it was 6 or 7 months before I got it back. When I got it back, the well water they use turned to algae, and siezed the pump! I'm saying this to warn everyone to do the best you can to remove as much water as possible, regardless of the unit you purchase!!!

Great for overnight and 8+ hours of use
This review includes the ICY THRP Cold Therapy Machine, the NEHOO WC-1 Cold Therapy System, the NEHOO WC-2 Cold Therapy System, and the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine, comparing them to the Breg Polar Care Cube. I’m a reasonably fit person, without mobility or strength issues, that had total right knee replacement surgery at age 59 in March 2025. The surgeon recommended buying a Breg Polar Care Cube, and a friend loaned me theirs with the WrapOn Pad (XL Knee), which I used almost continuously for 3 weeks, whenever motionless for the next 3, and regularly afterward. I left the machine running while I slept, replenishing the ice when I was awakened after 6 hours to take medication. Although I wore a thin compression stocking to protect my skin while sleeping, I found that it wasn’t needed – the temperature was not so cold that it was damaging my skin, and that proved to be true for all that machines that I tested. I continued to use it for about 12 weeks before investigating the purchase of my own, comparing it to other machines available via Amazon. I’m planning another total knee replacement for later this year, and am particularly focused on ice longevity while sleeping. The Breg Polar Care Cube is simple: it has one water flow speed (seems to be equivalent to “low” on other machines) and no timers. Plug it in and it’s on – unplug it when you’re done or want a break. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The motor is mounted to the center of the cover, and the container is tall enough to accommodate 4 upright 16.9oz frozen bottles of water. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam to help maintain cold water temperature. The ice would completely melt after about 5 hours. The ICY THRP Cold Therapy Machine provides 3 water flow speeds, an “on” timer, and an “off” timer. The container is transparent, making it easy to check ice. The motor is mounted to the cover but along one side, and the container can only accommodate 3 16.9oz bottles on their sides – 11-13oz bottles would work better. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam. The ice was almost melted after 3 hours, using either high or low water flow speeds, and the temperature indicator never dropped below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The NEHOO WLC-1 Cold Therapy System provides 3 water flow speeds, an “on” timer, and an “off” timer. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The NEHOO WLC-02 Cold Therapy System provides 3 water flow speeds, an “on” timer, an “off” timer, and a remote control. The container is transparent, making it easy to check ice. The motor is mounted to the cover but along one side, and the container can accommodate 4 16.9oz bottles on their sides – 11-13oz bottles would work better. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam. The ice was almost melted after 4 hours, using either high or low water flow speeds, and the temperature indicator never dropped below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine provides 3 water flow speeds, an “on” timer, and an “off” timer. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The motor is freestanding and sits in the bottom of the container, and the container is large enough to accommodate 7 16.9oz bottles upright. The hoses are wrapped in a nylon sleeve and not in insulating foam. At low speed and using 4 bottles, the ice was almost melted after 4 hours – using 7 bottles, the ice was almost melted at 9 hours. It has no temperature indicator. Given the above results, it’s clear that the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine can achieve the longest period of ice longevity, in part because it can accommodate more bottles than the others. It’s the only soft-sided machine I tested, and that could be an advantage if wanting to use it while traveling. The knee pad includes thin, integrated straps, similar to the Breg, which the others have wide, detached straps – I found this to be an advantage as well. In the end, I’ve selected the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine for my needs.

It works well at price point.
Day 3 of my knee replacement and I can’t tell you enough how pleased I am with this product. Easy to set up, lots of room for frozen ice bottles currently using 6 and it has lasted at least 16+ hours. I am using 30 min. On and 10 min. Rest. It has helped me rest quite a bit. I totally recommend this item. Thank you for all the reviews I read and ultimately chose this one because of the customer service that was written about item. I have not needed them yet but if I do I know they are there. I want to update my review. Almost 3 months using this and I again am so grateful for this product and the quality has maintained since new. Never an issue with anything. Unfortunately I continue to need this device because I ended up needing a manipulation on my knee but grateful this product works. This gives me the ability to sleep because it numbs the pain and I’m not up and down through the night replacing an ice pack.
