Placed at mid distance between a weak recepeption area and my router, I have set it as a repeater, and it does the job well. I get a strong signal and the same speed as the router.

I wanted to extend the WIFI out of my basement into the rest of my 2 story house and into the yard so I ordered the Cudy AX3000. I plugged the ethernet cable into my CAT6 network on the 2nd floor and the other end into the AX3000. I plugged it in. I downloaded the Cudy app from the Playstore. I selected Wireless Extender option as the connection, added the password, and completed the install procedure. The AX3000 showed up in my WIFI list with the same name as my house router with -EXT2G added to the end. I tested it with a speed test on my phone and laptop. There was an immediate increase in Upload and Download speed on the 2nd floor. I tested the connection in a sporadic connection location on the main floor. There was a better connection there with the AX3000 than my main router but I did notice it did not switch to the AX3000 automatically. I had to make the switch myself as the main router was still providing a bar of connection. I tried my phone outside and at the edge of our property my main router was still connected but without an Internet connection. It would not automatically switch over to the AX3000. I switched to the AX3000 myself and got an Internet connection. I then tested off the property. It still would not switch automatically to the AX3000. Upon switching myself I got an Internet connection. Here's what I found out after deeper investigation: The decision to roam (switch APs) is made by the phone, not the router or extender, and most phones only switch when the current signal is very bad, not when a better one appears. ​ Having the same SSID on router and extender does not guarantee seamless roaming; without a true mesh system, devices still tend to hang on to the first access point they saw. ​ Many Android phones (including Pixels) are known to stay locked to a weak Wi‑Fi until the signal is close to zero, which matches what you are seeing. To sum up the testing Wireless Extension on the Cudy AX3000 it works great and does extend my WIFI. However I have to switch the WIFI to the AX3000 to see the benefit. This is a function of my phone and not the AX3000.
