Excellent hard drive. Still running strong after almost 2 years.
Bought this cute little drive on June 23, 2011 from Amazon as I had no faith in Seagate or WD. It is still running strong and perfectly fine. I never had any hiccups till date and have used it with different Windows operating systems. Pros (from my experience: 1. Reliable for sure 2. Decently built 3. No sound while IO operations 4. Stylish 5. Compact Cons: No cons, but Lacie is always expensive than Seagate or WD. But everyone knows that we have to spare some extra for Quality. In future I may get Lacie 3TB. I think I am not going to change my mind for any other brands. Cheers.

Lacie Rikki 1TB
I chose the 1 TB Model. + The speed is really good, with up to 120 MB/s i am able to work directly off the drive. + Size: This drive is really small. It fits nearly everything + Design/quality: The drive is built very solidly. The design is beautiful and will fit on nearly any desk. It is robust, and you can feel the quality. + Prize: The price is incredibly low for such a high quality product o Software: The software in my eyes is neither positive nor negative. It works just fine, but id rather lose the additional drivers. i liked the time when drives were just drives and had no pre-installed software on them. - Cable: I went for a 3rd party cable for 2 reasons. The important reason is, that the cable was too short for my desk. The second is, that it is very stiff, i could not align it as i wanted. Conclusion: I can highly recommend this product. Some of you might need to buy an additional longer cable, but this is hardly a big negative point. Everything else is quite perfect and has fully deserved a 5* rating!

Requires 2 cables for Macbook pro
Was so excited to finally have USB 3.0 for Mac. But as you'll see their are some issues. Now you can download a driver from Lacie so that you can attach these along with their PCI-E usb 3.0 cards or their usb 3.0 expresscard/34 to your Mac ... It's all a fairly good idea. Be warned ahead of time a few things!!! One, to be fair I did know this before I bought mine, is that their USB 3.0 devices are propietary in other words you have to use Lacie products and download their Mac driver from their website not compatible with non Lacie PCI-E cards or ExpressCards/34... no big deal just buy Lacie, their most of the time good products and fairly competitive in price. However the bigger problem for me is issue number two, when I plugged in this new Lacie Rikki USB 3.0 hard drive to my mac via Lacie's USB 3.0 ExpressCard/34 it just beeped and no drive showed up. I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling their driver. Same thing it just beeped and no drive showed up, I did know the drive worked ok because it plugged into my desktop just fine but I was really bummed about it not working on my Laptop as this was the main reason I bought it! So I sent in a ticket for support via Lacie's online web support and so far what we have deduced is that there is not enough 'buspower' for my brand new Macbook pro to power this little drive and I now supposedly have to buy an additional "usb power sharing" cable from Lacie. The Lacie rep said they include it with every drive... but be warned this cable is not included with this drive. And now I'm forced into another purchase if I want to use it on my Macbook pro. I've requested that Lacie send me this cable since I had no idea I needed it, and since their rep said it was included with every drive... but we'll see. It does mention inside the box on the back of a card, "Note: Mobile drives may require additional power. Visit [...] to purchase a USB power cable for improved power." Lacie should Note: This is not visible from the outside of the box! and for their rep this cable is not included. This should also be something that Amazon makes a note of since they do not list this possible requirement anywhere in their description either. If I do get a usb power sharing cable sent to me by Lacie then I would probably throw in another star or 2 but this has been a little frustrating and I'd just like for people to know what they're getting. Other than that it seems to work fine although it is still brand new. We'll see if the usb power sharing cable allows me to use it on my laptop... Ok I'm am updating this 2 days later Lacie has been very nice and they suprised me and said that they would be happy to ship me a USB power sharing cable. It's a bummer that I've had to wait this long to use it on my Laptop but fortunately I'm not in a huge pressing need to use it right away. If your in a huge pressing need to buy this and use it on your Mac Laptop do yourself a favor and buy a USB power sharing cable from Lacie unless you can verify that it's included in the box. Hope that helps.

DON'T BUY THIS THING!
I bought this, and it worked great at first, super fast. I should have paid more attention to the reviews before I bought it, though. About 6 months of light use (no traveling with it, just sitting on my couch connected to my computer for a few hours at a time), the connection stopped working. Now, in order to transfer files to it, I have to hold in the cord and push at exactly the right angle or it will disconnect, and this really hurts my hand! I can do about one movie at a time before my hand gets too tired (if I can even hold it steady enough to not disconnect). At this rate, I doubt I will be able to even get my stuff off of there, which really pisses me off because I bought this thing to store all my movies on because they were taking up too much space on my mac. I looked at other reviews and saw this happened to them too. I also tried buying a new cord, and it doesn't help at all. The problem in with the product! Don't buy it!

Decided it was time to upgrade from my old 160GB LaCie mobile drive to something with a higher capacity. I had my old LaCie Mobile Hard Drive for 5 years and never had any issues. I really enjoy the aluminum casing and styling of the Rikiki device. It was very easy to setup and simply use right out-of-the-box. The drive itself is much smaller than I expected based on the photos. It is very quiet and performs very well (I didn't clock transfer speeds but am more than satisfied with the performance on my laptop with USB 2.0 ports). Two things I had a hard time determining were (1) how long the included Cable was and (2) if the device required a separate cable/power adapter to power the device. The transfer cable is quite long measuring over 12 inches and is quite thick. I use another cable I had around the house that is much more flexible and shorter given how small the Rikiki device is itself. Additionally, the hard drive is plug-n-play meaning it requires no secondary power supply/cable to power the unit. Overall, I am very satisfied with the styling and performance of the Rikiki mobile drive. My only con to the product is the somewhat bulky and long transfer cable included in the box. Otherwise, the hard drive itself is fantastic!

My previous external hard drive had 250Gb, about the size of a brick and that doesn't count the power supply! This 1Tb LaCie Rikiki drive is excellent, I plugged it into my Apple Macbook Pro and after a simple installation process it worked seamlessly with time machine. Very quiet in operation and since its powered by the usb port, there's no tangle of cables and very easy to plug it into my wife's macbook and backup her files as well. Highly recommended.

I love the size of the hard drive, it's actually shorter then my Samsung Galaxy S3 and thin as the base (when the laptop is open) of my 2012 Macbook Pro. The data transfer speeds are 50mb/s while using ExFat partition system. It could probably be faster if formatted to your own needs. NTFS for Windows and HFS+ for MAC. I use both operating systems so ExFat is the best as it is recognized on both systems. It's made of brush dark black/grey aluminum. Casing feels very stiff and does not bend inward. The suddenshock system on the hard drive works well to protect you data. The drive is also very silent you would have to put your ear up to it to hear the hard drive spinning. It does not need external power, this is a PORTABLE HARD DRIVE. There's a microUSB3.0 port on the back of the unit. Which is good because if you ever lose the included cable, USB3.0 is the new standard so you'll be able to buy a new cord without hassle. If you want you can also plug in a MicroUSB2.0 cable and it will still work just slower. I bought mine for $98 with tax and freeshipping. If you can get it for this price it's a great deal. 10cents/GB. Great Work LaCie. And Thank you Amazon for offering it at a great price.

Took it on a trip to Europe, worked very well and is a space saver. Price is a little too high!

Really simple to use. Plug in and start transferring those files! Small, compact and has style. Only downside I can see to it, USB wire is short. Other than that, beauty.
