Six of the best episodes from the second season of the classic children's series, inspired by Anne Sewell's novel. In 'A Member of the Family, Parts 1 and 2', Ned finds himself suspected of theft shortly after being taken in by the Gordon family. 'The Medicine Man' sees a travelling quack doctor selling his useless medicines to the villagers. In 'Out of the Night', Jenny and Ned claim to have seen a ghost in Monkswood. 'The Escape' finds Dr Gordon reluctant to believe Kevin and Albert's claim that Cicely Eddington is being held prisoner in Granley Hall by her aunt and uncle. In 'Game of Chance', Jenny is left in charge when Dr Gordon and Amy visit London for the day, and it isn't long before Albert has lost Beauty at Maybury Fair.

Great
Having been a huge fan of Black Beauty as a child, I was so pleased to get this DVD... brings back some memories, and the theme tune always gets me... It has some great episodes of the show, and makes me want to watch the whole series again.

Magic
This second boxed set is the series that I remember fondly. The first series didn't seem to get repeated that often on TV in the 70's as far as I can remember and that is why I only seem to remember the second series with Stacy Dorning playing the daughter. The print quality from this set seems a lot better than the previous set, a lot sharper. In the previous set there are a lot of scenes that appeared to be out of focus, not the fault of Network DVD this appears to be as originally shot on the Arriflex BL. The stories in series two are also much better, in particular the two parter with Mike Pratt (Randall & Hopkirk Deceased) Another good point about watching these again is just seeing the actors that were always on telly when I was a kid and who are now retired or dead. I can't believe that Roderick Shaw died quite young in 1996 according to the Imdb. So a very good purchase for me and to all other kids from the 70's I'd say treat your own nippers to Black Beauty, there's nothing else on worth watching these days.
