It REALLY isn't THAT hard folks! This is a good clock, I heartily recommend.
I first got this clock to replace a simpler one that played cds. When I was looking at the reviews I got quite nervous because a lot of people said they couldn't figure it out, (including people who boasted about holding prestigious jobs and degrees). But it doesn't cost too much, and I'm alright with tech, so I gave it a shot. I'm very glad I did. It works well and is quite easy to understand once you understand one VERY SIMPLE thing. WHAT IS THE MYSTICAL MAGIC TO THIS ALARM CLOCK??? There are two (2) modes. Because there are so many functions, some of the buttons have to do double duty. There is a clock mode where the buttons manipulate the clock. On clock mode you can set the time, set the alarm, hit snooze, and turn off the alarm. On radio or audio mode, (it's just one mode, I just forget what the instructions called it since I bought mine some time ago), you can cycle between radio, cd, and aux, set the volume, playback mode, etc. THIS REALLY SHOULD NOT BE TOO HARD TO UNDERSTAND. What seems to confuse everyone is one of two things. First, if you want to have a cd play as your alarm, you first have to go to audio mode, put in the cd, set the audio mode to cd, make sure the volume is good, etc. Then you go to clock mode, and set the alarm. This WHOLE LONG PROCEDURE takes me 10-15 seconds. It's not hard. The second confusing thing is that you hold down the button that changes the mode to turn off the alarm. (I think it's called power/standby.) This button only changes the mode, and turns off the alarm. It's not that hard! If the alarm is making noise, and you want to make it stop, (outside of hitting snooze), then you hold down this button. When it isn't making noise, you just press it normally to change the mode. THIS ISN'T THAT DIFFICULT! Now it's true the instructions aren't great. But is two modes REALLY that difficult to grasp? All the buttons are easily labeled. One mode has its labels in black text on white, while the other is white text on black. A couple minutes of pushing buttons, and reading the labels for the buttons, and I got the whole thing figured out. I've had it for a few years now, it still is working great, and if it ever breaks, I'll be buying another. tl:dr THERE ARE TWO (2) MODES! One changes the clock. The other changes the audio. If you want your clock to play a cd as an alarm, set the audio to cd, and then set the alarm. Two quick steps? Yes. Theoretical quantum physics? No. PS: I weep for humanity...

This unit has the aux option for use with a smart phone or tablet.
It works well as to be expected. It has reasonably good sound for a unit its size. I like that as a smart phone or tablet can be used with the aux setting for music in addition to CD's. I have used mostly commercial CD's which sound fine. I had the same model unit for several years, and when it died, I decided to get another one, mainly because of the aux option. It would not play CD-R discs very well. I had not tried a CD-R disc until recently, and the one I used worked fine. Hopefully this will continue. Its a bit involved to learn how everything works, but by following the directions I have been able to figure everything out. It just takes a little getting used to.

Great Alarm Clock - Read The Instruction Manual - That's Why It's There
My old alarm clock bit the dust after a power surge during a storm a couple of weeks ago (even though it was on a surge protector). I had the alarm clock for around 15 years and miss it very much. I saw this Jensen JCR310 alarm clock on Amazon and was hesitant to order it because of some of the bad reviews. I decided to order it anyway. This alarm clock is great. It comes with an instruction manual - IF YOU READ IT - you should have no problem operating it. The alarm clock has everything my old alarm clock had, even the color of the clock display is the same - avocado green - the only thing different is my old alarm clock was silver and the Jensen alarm clock is all black. Read the owners manual and you should have no problems setting the time, setting the alarm or playing a CD. The only thing I found unusual is the back-up battery compartment is located under the CD lid instead of the bottom of the unit like most alarm clocks. I have tested everything on this alarm clock that I will be using and they all seem to work fine. It is also heavy enough that it will not be flying off your end table when you hit the snooze button. I give this alarm clock 5 stars.

It fell apart !!
I wont even leave 1 star, this is reeeeaaally hard to work, even to operate the volume controls. but the worst part is the clarity of the cd player and radio, and after using the cd player maybe 3 times for 15 tracts it started stopping, then small parts fell off inside. Piece of crappy design and cheesy quality, not worth $75 or even $15

It serves it purpose
As most of the other reviews said, it is not a great product. It serves its purpose. I really wanted a dual alarm clock with a CD player. There is not much of a selection to choose from. All the buttons are multifunctional so they ony work when the radio is either turned on, or turned off depending on what you want to do. The power button is a nuisance. To turn the radio off you have to remember to hold it down for a full second. If you press it quicker than that, you have switched to the next mode and have to go through the other options, FM, AM, CD, AUX to get back to what you want to listen to. The alarm, when set on music, will go off to the last thing you listened to so make sure you have it tuned correctly and haven't changed the setting by using the power button incorrectly. The CD works but the sound is tinny and nothing to brag about. The radio has a memory where you can store your favorite radio stations but I haven't bothered to figure out how to do that yet. It does comes with good instructions, so given time anyone should be able to figure it out.

My new alarm radio/cd player unit
Just got my new device. Love it - it looks great and the digital display is excellent. Sounds good for its size. This is not a high end super duper stereo jamming device. It is very appropriate for what it is - an am/fm radio/cd player with alarm and snooze button. When laying in bed at night, this unit sounds perfect and the sound bounces off all 4 walls and you can jam it up in your mind as you dose off. It is a great upgrade from my old simple am/fm radio alarm snooze - this has a cd player that can also be your wake up alarm if you set it up that way. I am very pleased even dough it got to me after the promised delivery date. Forgive and forget is my motto.

I was looking for an alarm clock that played CDs, I thought it would be nice to wake up to music! And I'm trying to not bring my cell phone into the bedroom. This has been perfect. I see a lot of other reviews for it that say the buttons are difficult to understand, but I don't agree. For the first few days I needed to look at the instructions, but after that, they all just make sense to be. Depending on what mode you're in, the buttons do different things, but they are labeled. I personally find it very easy to use. I like that it has two alarms. For a while, it would randomly play static at night. Or if it was set to the cd player, the cd would spin. But I've figured out it was when I had my cell phone on the nightstand. So, since I don't bring my phone into the bedroom anymore, that's not an issue. The radio doesn't work, but I live in a vally, in a metal house, so I didn't expect to pick up either of the two local stations. I'm sure if you lived somewhere better, it would be fine. It has a long antenna. It is a little bit clunky looking and big on the nightstand, but I expected that would be the case when I went looking for a cd player alarm clock. I put it on the bottom shelf of my nightstand, so it's not really in the way. One thing I will say, the whirring sound of the cd player wakes me up before the music starts, but that would probably be true of any CD player alarm clock. It's only a couple of seconds before you'd be woken up anyway, so it's not a big deal. The alarm sound that's the default is quite loud and startling, so I'll stick to the CD even with the whirring. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase!!!

Having used the radio for just over a week I am pleased that for such a small clock radio the sound is rich and has a reasonable bass for its size. Getting used to the many controls on the radio requires much examination of the instruction booklet, especially in the dark, as all the control buttons have multiple uses depending if the radio is on or off, but once you have mastered them it responds correctly. I have yet to figure out how to control the volume on the "wake up" function...but I am sure I will win! The green LED display does not seem to be able to be dimmed...another quest! All in all I am very impressed with the clock radio and would recommend it to anyone.
