Xena Alarm Lock XZ Scooter Series

It is what it is, and that's fine.
I live in Virginia and while a lot of folks ride scooters, there seems to be little good parking for them. Trying to find somewhere where I can really put up a chain is next to impossible. So, I use this. And it works good for that. Even if someone thinks they can just lift the bike and haul it off, the alarm goes off. And what I like best is that if people decide they're going to sit all over your scooter, the alarm goes off. I don't know why people think it's perfectly all right to sit on your scooter, twist the throttle, press all the buttons, and mess around with it, but apparently, people think this is fine. This pretty much puts a stop to that. I don't mind people who want to check out my scooter, but wait until I'm out there and ASK me first.I would not recommend this as a long term theft preventative. In other words, I wouldn't lock my scoot outside of my house with this being my only theft preventative. If someone really wanted to steal your scooter and had the time to plan it, they could do it, even with this lock. What this will do is help prevent someone from impulsively stealing your scooter. For a long term solution, you're better off having a shed/garage for your bike. If you live in a bad neighborhood, or have friends who might have friends who would love to "borrow" your bike, using this lock in a garage or shed, along with another alarm for the shed itself is a good idea. You don't need to get a fancy alarm system, just a simple, "If you don't know the code, this will start screeching like the devil itself" is fine. You just want to scare them away.

Watch Xena videos online before opening the package...
or put in earplugs after reading the teeny tiny instructions...it will arm/alarm after installing the battery and before you get the gasket back on the lock body. It will also alarm until you get it OFF the brake disc - unlocking does nothing but let you get it off the disc. You have 5 seconds after the first beep, and that happens when the key barely touches it. I have yet to get it off before it starts shrieking.SO the good (and bad) thing about this is that if you inadvertently alarm it, you can put your palm over the alarm on the outside to muffle it quite effectively. So can a thief.I wish I'd read the comments on the youtube video before my purchase - I'd have bought the XX series with the alarm inside the lock slot. Not that anything can stop a determined thief, but it would have given me more peace of mind.

It is what it is.
It is a little chunk of metal that is sometimes difficult to arm, but it fits in the disc disabling the ability to roll the scooter off. It keeps people from messy with the scooter. Someone already has tried to steal a mirror while I was at the grocery store, but I think that this little chunk with it's screaming finally made them just give up. I park in the garage of my house, so overnight theft isn't my primary concern. I have a Buddy 170i Mocha. It gets a lot of attention. People are always sitting on it and touching it. This alarm has put a stop to that. One slight vibration and this thing starts screaming. It is not loud enough for me to hear it in the store, but it is loud enough to draw other bystanders attention, or even better, the screaming convinced people to get off of my bike and leave it alone.

pin is small but it is freakin loud 120
i just receive this item. pros on this xena is it is reliable, one little touch and it will go off. it dosent excactly ring for 15 seconds but it rings forsure with little jug. the cons i would say is the paint is not fully coated correctly in the inner part of the xena. another con is if you put your hand on the speaker part of the alarm it can get very low in sound. other then that it works great and itll keep the crooks moving on to another bike. for 60 dollars investment to keep a 5 to 8 grand bike safe is not bad. locks and bolts anybody can cut it with bolt cutters. but alarm will have them running.

xena alarm disc lock
This lock is great! The locking pin is smaller/thinner than expected, however the alarm is on point! ..so size doesnt really matter if your local to your ride. The wind will not set off this alarm, but a bump to your bike will, and you will hear it!When setting lock on bike, alarm will give one loud beep, notifing you it is armed. When taking lock off bike, dont touch bike but alarm first..Once anything is bumped the alarm will give a loud beep (just like when setting it) then you only have 5seconds to disarm before alarm is sounded. This alarm is LOUD! So take it off quickly or your ears will be ringing..

TOTAL JUNK !!
This piece of TRASH lasted about one week !! I went out to unlock it, it came off. Then it went OFF !! The STUPID thing would not shut off if i had it open or shut. It was EMBARASSING !! I was on main st and every one was looking at me. This thing is LOUD as hell !!I had to go upstairs to my apartment (with it in my hand BLASTING in my face) and get the allen wrench to take off the screw to get to the battery so i could shut this stupid thing off. I think it scared the hell out of the other people in the other apartments.Dont waste your money on this. Your better off spending that money on theft insurance.

Good
The alarm is a bit tricky. Doesn't always go off and is sometimes it's really sensitive. No matter what position it's placed. Either way, the bright neon yellow is a good indicator for protection and with an addition of a good chain. It's an excellent deterrent. For a scooter, which doesn't weigh much... it fits my needs.

wow - I can sleep at night--but goes off randomly sometimes
these alarms are loud and do the trick - I do not have to worry about my bike anymore at night - if someone even wiggles it the whole compex will be awake - worth the piece of mind. buy it!
