Cocchi Americano Italian Aromatised Wine | 75cl | 16.5 percent | Italian Aperitivo with Tropical Fruit Notes | Perfect in a Spritz

An absolutely stunning aperitif wine, the taste is much more complex than Noily Prat, at first taste it can be very difficult to describe, it has a dry sourness but also a sweetness, there's a bitterness also....how that is possible is quite beyond me. If you drink it neat it is less easy on the palate in many ways but as a mixer it gives the finished drink a depth and complexity that Noily Prat doesn't. There are many floral notes and perhaps pine. I bought this for making Vespers as it is more akin to the original dry Kina Lilet than the modern sweet Lilet Blanc....and my goodness it makes the best Martinis and Vespers.... I really love it! The price is unfortunately horribly expensive and can be over £20 a bottle. It did make the best Vesper I’d ever tasted though!! It really is utterly superb. It is twice the price of Noily Prat but my goodness it is exceptional and very difficult to choose another vermouth/botanics infused wine after trying this. If you have an educated palate...you will be overjoyed!

This is recommended instead of Lillet Blanc (itself very nice, and frankly cheaper) for the Vesper cocktail. It's delicious, with complex flavours and a slightly bitter background from the quinine, but very well balanced. Try a reverse Vesper using 60ml of Cocchi, 20ml of vodka and 10ml of gin (or 60:30:30) - great taste and makes for a lighter aperitif.

Quality drink

You need this if you like martinis. Very smooth aperitif with a taste profile similar to the original Kina Lillet. The modern version of which is not the same as the original. Very drinkable on it’s own but brought to life in a vesper.

Bought thinking it would be nicer than Lillet Blanc, which my supermarket has stopped stocking - , it’s okay but not actually as good

Can't get kina lilet any more with the proper recipe, this works as a nice substitute. Afraid I can't compare to kina lilet because I can't afford to source it but I can confirm it makes a nice Vesper Martini

Afin de prendre autre chose que les marques trouvables en grande distribution (pour ne pas en citer), j'ai voulu tester et franchement, c'est plutôt bon, ça reste une bonne variante pour vos cocktails ayant besoin de vermouth bianco

そのまま飲むにせよ、カクテル材料にせよ、日本ではホワイトベルモットやリレブランとの比較の中で理解するのが良いお酒だと思います。イメージ的にホワイトベルモットとリレブランの中間、ややリレよりの味わいで、かすかな苦味はキナ由来でしょうか？個人的な好みとしてはリレよりも好きなので、私の小さいストックではリレブランを置き換えてしまいました。

Dalle mie parti il Cocchi è introvabile, per questo ho voluto ordinarlo da Amazon: il Cocchi offre una complessità aromatica che lo rende molto particolare, trovo che sia il retrogusto a fare davvero la differenza persistente; appena, appena, con una sottile eleganza che lascia il segno. È proprio questo finale aromatico e avvolgente il suo vero punto di forza, capace di dare profondità a ogni sorso. Consigliatissimo in miscelazione, il Cocchi Americano è perfetto per un Dry Martini più intrigante o per un Vesper Martini come quello reso celebre da James Bond (forse la cosa più simile al Kina Lillet menzionato nel libro). Interessante anche in una variante del Negroni, dove sostituisce il vermouth dolce per un risultato più fresco e leggermente amaricante.
