Can use this for Programming work?

Yes, that is what I use it for. You'll need a computer or a dock with a video adapter that supports 4K (3840 x 2160). I currently use an HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 (120W) connected via DisplayPort. My laptop is an HP Spectre x360 14". The setup behaves very well. I've tried dozens of setups over the years and this combination is the best so far. I previously had a Samsung 55" Smart TV and that TV component kept getting in the way. The commercial display made the difference of getting it all to work well. I hope this helps.
