TargusLaptop Backpack, Lightweight with 32L Capacity, Multi-pocket

This is a good quality backpack. It can be used to transport laptop and associated bits around, but you could also use it for a daily use without a laptop. If you store a laptop in it, I like the fact that there is an extra padded envelope inside for keeping the precious laptop away for the other accessories which feels more secure. The backpack itself is comfortable to carry around on the daily commute, but I could also imagine using it if I was on holiday and wanted to carry my stuff during the day. There is plenty of room for a day, but it would struggle to hold enough for a week of travelling because it is only 20L of space. There are multiple pockets for keeping stuff separate. I keep my train pass in one pocket and my charger etc in another, so that when I need a particular thing I know where to find it. I have had mine for several months and it still looks like new. Therefore I would say it is hardwearing and good quality. It is fabric but I have not seen any water ingress so it seems to handle the rainy days ok. I would recommend for the daily commute.

Great backpack, holds well and looks smart. Nice side pocket for drinks which holds firm.

Bought for work, lots of handy pockets, looks professional and seems sturdy and well made.Good value, and I like that is has a strap on the back to attach to a trolley bag handle.

The tiny picture of this rucksack does not tell you anything. The bag has a large main compartment with a zip close to the back of the bag, where the detachable case sits, I say detachable, it doesn't really attach to anything. It just sort of sits in there with an elasticated velcro strap from the back of the bag going across it. Despite this lack of attachment, it is quite secure, as the case is almost exactly the size of the compartment (perhaps even a little bigger). The case is approximately 15" x 12" x 1.5", very well padded (too much and too big for my 13" laptop) with a velcro flap. There is ample space in the rest of the large compartment for lunch, water bottle etc, and there are pockets in the front of the compartment for sheets of paper, though because they are on the front they have a tendancy to gape open when I'm trying to pack the bag. There are 2 side pockets on the outside of the large compartment which are a bit of a funny shape, though just big enough for a mouse or power cable, if a little exposed. There is another compartment on the front of the bag, smaller, but still quite spacious. Also with many internal pockets, though less gapey. This is the zip you can see in the picture. Finally there is a third compartment for all your small precious items, which is still quite spacious on the very front of the bag, it flaps open a bit like the mouth of Beaker from the Muppets. Being on the very front, it's not too secure in large crowds, but the many internal pockets in the other compartments would be ok for storage of wallet etc. Overall, the bag is large and roomy, I've found it to be plenty waterproof and very sturdy, and quite comfortable. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's still quite stiff, but is slowly softening up a bit.

Good quality

I have been using exactly this backpack for at least 10 years and while it hasn't broken down it felt slightly old and tired but through all that time I was really happy with Targus product. I have travelled for work basically every week and it kept my laptop safe through all these years.Now after couple of months with this one I can say that all the positives stayed the same - proper quality, great materials, good designs with many compartments and it feels sturdy.Hopefully will last another 10 years. Keep up the good work!

I have amended my repeat and the number of stars because the one I bought in February already has 2 broken zippers. Not sure if I just got a faulty one or the quality of the product has decreased, but I am not as happy as I was with my previous same model .I had one of these for 3 years - took it everywhere, work and not work, carried SO much stuff with it : shopping, kids paraphernalia, took it to the beach, mountain, pretty much any means of transpo .. sturdy and utilitarian. year 4, zipper broke because i have 2 left hands really..so i bought the same one new again. I for one love it.

EDIT: Other reviewers claim that this item has been changed since I bought it in 2009 and is now lesser quality. Buy beware!I bought this item in 2009 but, having just seen it in my past orders, I realised I had not reviewed it. It well deserves the 5 stars. I have been using it nearly every day for 16 years - often carrying heavy items - and it has retained perfect original condition in every part - no tears or fraying or broken zips. One of the best things about it is that it looks like an average backpack most of the time but it greatly expands as you fill it allowing you to carry many more items than you would think. Should the bag ever tear or break now I would have no hesitation in purchasing it again and using it for another 1t years.
