The Rough Guide to Bangkok

I love the Rough Guide Book Series. Have read and carried them to almost every continent. I love being able to look up where to find a store that offers fax service or the best times to visit a certain attraction. Would never travel without my Rough Guide.

The book is in pretty good condition considering its price. arrived before the estimated date. Skimmed through the book and saw a lot of details which should be a good thing. the only thing is that this edition is published in 2010 so the information might be a little outdated but shouldn't be too much of a problem.

This guide book provided a lot of useful information. It has pictures, not a ton of them, but you don't miss them in this guide.

Even though I now have lived in Thailand 8 years and have passed by in Bangkok more than 10 times, but each time only for one night I hotel, this is the first city guide book about Bangkok that I've bought. And I found it and bought it by Amazon and not in a book chop here in Thailand and that just before again in the past weekend having to go to a doctor in Bangkok. I find it to be a really good book first for the way it's divided into parts and second for the many small carts. And beside for also the writing about al the interesting places surrounding Bangkok. Concerning these places outside Bangkok there for example are good writings and pictures about Ayuthaya which lay 80 km outside Bangkok and which was the capital until the year 1767. Or the bridge over the river Kwai, the name of which we especially remember after an old film. And it's also a good book by in the start coming with the history of Thailand, and by which I can see that the book must have been printed in last year because of the telling about some political from February last year. This actual point is stating corruption but over the years Thailand many times international have been stated as number one in corruption! And concerning history it's always best for a visiting person to have an idea of the history and culture of the country which he or she is visiting.

This book was my Bible while spending 2 weeks in Bangkok with Habitat for Humanity. After reading a bunch of reviews I chose this over the Lonely Planet guide, and I'm so glad I did. A girl in my group had the Lonely Planet book and it was basically worthless. Once I got used to the different format of Rough Guide it was easy to understand and find exactly what I needed, whether food or shrines or shopping. They include many helpful tips about the culture, history and warnings about where to go and where not to go. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Bangkok.

This is an excellent book with so much information and ideas. We always find the Rough Guide tips are true, the recommendations helpful and overall brimming with guidelines and advice. Its a slightly different set out compared to previous books but a very good read. Bangkok is a brilliant and bustling city and there is much to do and see, places to eat, river trips which are so beautiful, shopping, temples and the fantasticly friendly people. I do recommend this book. Its a must if you are going to Bangkok.

Very informative, but the organization of information could be better

This book is very informative and I like it. However I think the vocabulary/translation section could be improved on, and whilst it has 'small area' street maps which are very helpful I would also like the fold away large area map which is in the front and back of the Lonely Planet Bankok condensed book which are excellent and help to put places into perspective.

Very useful guide which we used greatly during our holiday. Good information and. Maps.
