I had no idea researching the best crayons for young toddlers was going to throw me into a state of guilt and worry. "Crayola claims non-toxic, but how they make their products are extremely toxic!" "Crayons break so easy they cause a huge choking hazard!" "Don't buy those - they smell!" I couldn't believe all the time I spent looking for the best option for our soon-to-be two year old. First and foremost, there are no crayons or markers on the market that have been deemed "OK" for children less than 3 years old. So save your time researching that. Obviously you have to make the best choice for you and your child. For us, our daughter is extremely interested in coloring/art so when we give her crayons/markers/etc, we have her sitting at the table and she is supervised. These are perfect for a young toddler. We have regular crayons gifted to us from the in-laws and my LO prefers these. They don't require much effort/force to color with, are super smooth, large so it fits in her hand, and the colors are vivid. I love that they are stated to be non toxic just in case and the caps are large enough to not be too worried of a choking hazard. They are easily washed off any surface and we can't wait to use them also as paints. Now if they would offer triangular shapes so they wouldn't roll off the table...it'd be a match made in heaven.
