It is advertised that they don't leak, and they haven't leaked from the outer seal, just from the seal separating the compartments. disappointing...UPDATE: The seller did contact me about the bowls having faulty seals and sent me an entirely new set free of charge. When I compared the new seals with the old seals, it was plain to see that the new ones are MUCH better, and now the bowls are as advertised and leak free, so I have updated them to 5 star rating!!! They have a silicone rim that runs around the outside and between the compartments.This lunch box is pretty good too. The lunch box itself is not leak proof, and when I tried to use it with other (unfortunately, slightly leaky) prep containers, the food leaked out onto my clothes. Just the right size for standard plastic meal prep containers.But overall I think this is a great deal. Great quality, very durable and the lid snaps on for a secure fit. To get an idea of how big the cooler bag is, you can stack all three containers and fit them into the bag.
