So, needless to say I was super excited for a new book.....and then I was just terribly disappointed. Why?Because NOTHING happens in this book....no one rescues anyone, there's no bad guy, the romance proceeds normally....there's no real suspense. To start with our hero, Coach, doesn't rescue Harley...she's rescued by a stranger. And, she's not rescued from a bad guy, but from something pretty mundane. Harley doesn't rescue Coach...he even says, that they would have lived regardless of her actions, he just may have been more injured than he was. Basically, H/h meet, they go thru a scary experience, they date and fall in love, they go thru a scary experience (that happens like 70% into the story so you know it's going to be resolved quickly and it is) and they live HEA. That's it.....no suspense, no tension. I kept thinking I was missing something..and at the end I really didn't care about either character. The romance itself is fine, but nothing earth shattering.I'll always look for Susan's next book, but I'll keep hoping they're better than this one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Free falling for love! *by K***E on Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2020* This is such a wild way to meet the man of your dreams.Because let me tell you, I don't ever plan on jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I get the thrill and all-- totally not for me though.I loved how it twisted to be a jump that takes a turn.And in a way, Harley saves Coach first. Then he swoops in and saves the day later in the book. I appreciated the "situation" in this book. It was realistic. Because, it was something that could have happened to just about anyone. Clearly, Coach has to become the main suspect in her disappearance. He was the last person to see her before she vanishes without a trace.Their relationship was really cute. And I loved the quirky habits that Harley has. Plus, she's got a really cool job! Video game programmer? Awesome! My favorite parts about these books are the relationships between all the couples + the rest of the guys on the team. Where to start.I didn't think this book was too bad at the beginning. Though Harley was described much along the same lines that Susan Stoker seems to prefer to describe female leads, Harley seemed like a decent enough person. She was just a pathetic mix, as usual. In this case, an overly tall, skinny girl who at 34, had never been with a guy. A major dork on steroids.Coach seemed okay, but I thought the over-the-top descriptions of him getting pissed at bullies was a bit much, especially the scene in the fast food joint with the teenagers. Teenagers, seriously? A man in his mid-thirties bothering to jump their stupid asses about comments he heard them making? Creepy and unnecessary, and it did nothing to endear him to me. I understand his feelings as they relate to his sister, but still. I thought his bullying obsession was a bit much.The romance between him and Harley was okay, but definitely not one of the best stories that I've ever read. Then the thing with Harley "disappearing". So, based on the title, one would assume that something happened to Harley that necessitated her being rescued, am I right? Well, that didn't happen. I have no idea what the heck the title is supposed to be referring to, but there was no "rescuing" of Harley, certainly not by Coach. What happened to her was frankly stupid and a complete letdown. That was the climax of the story? Seriously? And you're telling me that nobody, out of all the people looking for her, found her before they did? Not buying it.By the time Coach had his bullying meltdown and then Harley immediately disappeared, I lost all use for him. He became seriously weak looking and it wasn't appealing. I expect much better from my fictional heroes (especially when they're supposed to be alpha heroes, for heaven's sake). By the time he had his meltdown I was starting to view him as more of an annoying beta boy type.
