Most of my actual knowledge was from putting it to work. It's honestly not a complicated tool. You can find the over view I received with my manifold here:http://www.fieldpiece.com/media/manuals/Opman-SMAN360-v05.pdf **Q: there has been many questions about the accuracy of digital gauges. is everyone finding these to be relieable** A: I've got several sets of these manifolds, they are more accurate than the old style manifolds. Especially in situations where rapid pressure change takes place in a split second, such as noncondensables are in a system. I've seen people who've had this come up, say they are slow and question their accuracy due to the "lag" in digital screen change, the reality of it is the older manifolds only show a quick split second bump or jump in the needle that if not closely watching for it you'll miss it all together. Bought my first set of the SMAN 3's back in 2012 when they first came out. No other manufacturer stands behind their warranty like Fieldpiece Instruments does, nobody, they have the best warranty department in the industry hands down **Q: How often does the gauges need to be calibrated ? And can it be done by owner ?** A: You calibrate them to atmospheric pressure,or to a known pressure, but havent needed to do it. But the calibration adjustment screws are on the front cover. **Q: How far down will the built in micron gauge read?** A: The micron gauge is useless it’s not accurate. I have two sets and neither one works accurately .but to answer yourQuestion ,mine goes down to 2 microns . I work with precision test and measurement equipment in the aerospace industry every day. The build quality of this instrument caught my eye. After purchasing this instrument, I ran this through various pressure, vacuum and temperature tests in the lab using a Fluke 1560 Thermometer Readout/PRT and a DH Instruments pressure/Vac calibrator and it was well within its published specifications on all parameters. I honestly didn't think the instrument would perform this well right out of the box without calibration. The manifold valves operate very smoothly and feel to be of great quality.I would highly recommend this to any serious tech and or a techie/hobbyist like myself. You will not be disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great but NOT durable *by C***L on September 8, 2015* Purchased this to replace my other Fieldpiece SMAN3. This updated model has better interface. Digital gauges with auto micron gauge insure you have pulled a deep vacume. The sub cooling readings provided with the clamp on temp gauges is the only method to accurately charge r410a. One or two negatives: gauge lcd screen is susceptible to permanent damage if dropped or something hits it. This happened to my first one. I bought a case but it won't fit unless you disconnect the hoses every time you want to put it up. Also the plastic temperature clamps easily break at the pivots and render them useless. For a tool that's used for field service and costs almost $500 it is no way rugged enough. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They quit working....then started working *by R***S on June 22, 2018* Revised after I posted this....Suck.......I had for two months. Quit working. High side reads 29.9 hg low side reading 473-635psi. Won't reset to atmosphere pressure. I took good care of these too......field piece you aren't what you used to be. Do not buy. Buy testos. My friends have testos. Left in rain and still work. I opted for these after careful consideration. Wrong choice. DONT BUY. THEY WILL FAIL.........after two days they started working and have worked since. I like them. I was disappointed at first because they quit. But back in order. Just make sure you don't get them wet. I'm not sure if that was my issue because the only time they got wet was about a week before they quit.
