Great with just one fatal flaw.
This collection is great but with one fatal flaw, and thatโs that it ends during one of the greatest fights in anime history.

An improvement over the older DVD release, but with a crucial flaw
This set is a major upgrade over the DVDs in every way ... accept for one, and it's something that once you see, you cannot unsee it; so, if you don't want your experience ruined, here's your spoiler warning. Still with me? The frame rate is wrong on many episodes. Now, that's a very bold claim to make, but it is unfortunately a problem that plagues all prior Shippuden BDs, and even original Naruto BDs. Since these episodes were provided to the publisher in standard definition, upscaling had to be performed. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but what they were handed was likely a DigiBeta broadcast master. Without going in to excessive detail, this means that the publisher was working with a telecined NTSC source, which runs at a fixed 29.97 FPS. A lot of the content found on this volume was animated at 24 FPS. Telecine is the process used to effectively "stretch" a constant 24 FPS source to be in compliance with NTSC broadcast standards (i.e 29.97 FPS). Because there are some sections of this volume which were intended to run at this frame rate, no IVTC was applied to sections that were supposed to be 24 FPS. This manifests in what can best be described as visual stuttering during slow panning sections. While DVD sources can be IVTC'd when needed, this set cannot, because the upscaling process, more specifically, the de-interlacing used, wrecked the original 3:2 cadence of telecine, making the original progressive frames largely unrecoverable. So, if you thought things looked like they were stuttering in places where they really shouldn't have been, it's not your imagination. That said, almost all streaming services suffer from the same type of mastering problems, so this presentation has become the norm for these episodes. That in mind, the sections meant to run at 30 FPS do look quite good. Additionally, the improved picture quality compared to the DVD sets cannot be understated.
